Corleen enjoyed bridge Philip Eugene Newton Sr. Milton-Freewater Sept. 25, 1941 — June 16, 2021 On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, Philip Eugene Newton Sr., beloved husband, father, brother and Papa, passed away at the age of 79, surrounded by love. Phil was born Sept. 25, 1941, to Walter and Ona Newton in Virginia. He met the love of his life and married Wanda Perkins on April 22, 1963, and had two children. He spent most of his career in the hospitality industry managing hotels and restaurants in the South- east. An avid sports fan who especially loved football and college basketball, he never missed a Duke Blue Devils game. Phil was one of a kind. A funny, kind, caring and truly generous man, who would do anything for anybody. Robert Andrew Whiteshield Pendleton Oct. 1, 1956 — June 17, 2021 Robert Andrew Whitesh- ield, born Oct. 1, 1956, was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota, at St. Alexius Hospital, son to Batherine Ione Feather (St. Pierre) and Robert Seth Whiteshield. He passed away after a battle with pneumonia and heart failure. Robe r t love d t he outdoors. He loved fish- ing, hiking, camping and anything to do with that. Though he was born in North Dakota, he consid- ered Seattle his hometown. As a teenager, he grew up in Neah Bay, Washington, and would take trips to Seattle every weekend before even- tually moving there and working as an airline atten- dant. He loved attending local rock concerts, and was a huge sports fan, having gone to multiple Mariners and Seahawks games. He got a bachelor’s degree from University of Washington in psychology. In the 1990s, he moved to Pendleton, Oregon, to be closer to his mother who had just recently moved down here before enjoy- ing a comfortable lifestyle in a small quiet town. He would fi nd employment at Wildhorse Casino, and met many people over the years living in Pendleton. Every- one would describe him as a nice guy who was easy to get along with. He is preceded in death by Robert Seth Whitesh- ield (father), Batherine Ione Feather (mother), Robert Seth Whiteshield (brother), Barbara Williamson (sister), John Williamson (brother), and Wayne Williamson (brother).
