A6 LOCAL East Oregonian Saturday, February 8, 2020 UMATILLA RIVER FLOODING Flood waters hit Umatilla County By BEN LONERGAN East Oregonian The Umatilla River spilled its banks this week, causing widespread damage across the county and displacing a number of residents from their homes and property. Gov. Kate Brown declared a state of emergency on Friday in Umatilla County, and emergency declarations were made in a number of communities in the county. Both residents stayed at a mobile home park on Thursday night despite evacuation orders. According to Meacham, the water levels never rose higher than his steps and he was able to hunker down in relative comfort inside his home.
