“It was in upstate New
York (Little Falls),” he said.
“It was an experience. At
first, it was really tough.
We were in a town the size
of Irrigon, and I barely had
cell service. I lived with a
billet family, and I’m glad
I did. It was an awesome
experience.”
“I’ve told them I could
hit and play in the outfield,
but the college coaches just
want me to focus on pitch-
ing,” Robles said.
After his stint at TVCC,
where he had a 3.06 ERA
and 67 strikeouts in 64⅔
innings his sophomore
year, Missouri Western
found Robles on Field-
Level, an app that helps
connect
players
and
coaches.
Through the app, Robles
had interest from Montana
State Billings, Northwest
Nazarene University, Bel-
levue University and Mis-
souri Western.
The summer between
TVCC and Missouri West-
ern, Robles played for the
Bend Elks of the West
Coast League, a summer
college wood bat league
that competes against
teams like the Walla
Walla Sweets and Portland
Pickles.
“I really liked that
league,” Robles said.
Last summer, base-
ball took Robles across
the country to New York,

— The Mac-Hi boys basket-
ball team held their Touchet
visitors to just seven points
in the second quarter and
posted a 25-6 third quar-
ter to knock down a 66-39
nonleague home win on
Wednesday.
Marcellus Brinkley led
the Pioneers with 12 points.
Isaac Earls followed with
11, and Gilberto Badillo 10.
Earls added two 3-pointers
to the win.
Mac-Hi (9-11, 2-2 GOL)
will pick up Greater Oregon
League play again for their

Pioneers fell to a five-game
skid after Wednesday’s non-
league home game against
Touchet.
”We came out a little
sluggish in the first half,”
Mac-Hi head coach Chris
Bryant said. “We threw the
ball away too many times.”
The Pioneers trailed
30-17 at halftime, but ral-
lied to cut their deficit in the
final two quarters, falling
just short. Daniela Angel
finished with 17 points for
Mac-Hi.
”We played better in
the second half,” Bry-
ant said. “We had a cou-
ple of bounces along the
way as we tried to make a
comeback. Touchet’s well-
coached. They have some
talented players. We just
didn’t execute well enough
tonight.”
The Pioneers (8-13, 1-3
GOL) resume Greater Ore-
gon League action on home
on Saturday against Baker.
Game time is at 3 p.m.
Final season
Missouri Western is
just three games into the
season. Robles said he
would get the start Satur-
day at Southern Arkansas
University.
“I’m usually the Fri-
day night guy,” he said.
“But after last week, they
wanted to give me an extra
day.”
The Griffons do not play
a home game until Feb. 21,
but Robles said he expects
his parents to make a cou-
ple of trips down to see him
play in March and April.
