vehicle with a tractor.

5:04 p.m. — A man reportedly drove away from Zip Zone II,

Whitworth students named to
Provost’s Honor Roll
SPOKANE, Wash. — Three local undergraduate
students have achieved Provost’s Honor Roll status for
the Fall 2019 semester at Whitworth University. To be
named to the list, undergraduate students must main-
tain a grade-point average of 3.75 or better during the
semester.
Earning a place on the list were Tucker Wilson
of Helix, Tyler Rohrman of Hermiston, and Reilly
Hegarty of Pendleton.
Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private,
liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian
church. The university, which has an enrollment of more
than 3,000 students, offers more than 100 undergraduate
and graduate degree programs.
Local students named to dean’s list
PENSACOLA, Fla. — Josiah Barron of Hermiston
and Grace Wilkerson of Pendleton were named to the
Dean’s List by Dr. Troy Shoemaker, president of Pensac-
ola Christian College, for academic achievement during
the 2019 fall semester. Students named on the Dean’s List
earned a semester grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
Pensacola Christian College is a liberal arts college
enrolling students from every state in the U.S. and from

band Rush, has died. His rep Elliot Mintz said in a state-
ment Friday that Peart died at his home Jan. 7, 2020, in
Santa Monica, Calif. He was 67.

before Rush’s first U.S.

Rush’s first album
with Peart — now the
band’s principal song-
writer — was 1975’s
platinum-seller “Fly by
Night.” They released a
second album that same
year, “Caress of Steel,”
which
reached
gold
status.
But in 1976 the band
marked a major break-
through with the album
“2112,” which sold three
million units in the U.S.
Rush’s most successful
album was 1981’s “Mov-
ing Pictures,” which
sold four million cop-
ies and featured the rock
hit “YYZ,” helping the
band earn its first-ever
Grammy
nomination
(they earned seven nom-
inations throughout their
career).
Rush’s 1990’s “Chron-
icles” was a double plati-
num success, while 11 of
the band’s albums were
certified platinum and
10 albums reached gold
status.
The band was heav-
ily influential and fans of
Peart and Rush paid trib-
ute on social media.

has died. He was 67.

Peart died at his home
Tuesday in Santa Mon-
ica. The band posted a
message on Twitter also
confirming the news.
“It is with broken
hearts and the deep-
est sadness that we must
share the terrible news
that on Tuesday our
friend, soul brother and
band mate over 45 years,
Neil, has lost his incredi-
bly brave three and a half
year battle with brain
cancer,” the band wrote.
“Rest in peace brother.”
Peart was revered for
his drumming skills,
but was also the band’s
key songwriter, known
for his fantastical lyrics.
The respected musician
placed fourth on Rolling
Stone’s list of 100 Great-
est Drummers of All
Time, just behind Ginger
Baker, Keith Moon and
John Bonham.
Peart, alongside band-
mates Geddy Lee and
Alex
Lifeson,
were
inducted in the Rock
& Roll Hall of Fame in
2013, and honored for
combining “the signa-
ture traits of progressive
rock with a proto typi-
cal heavy-metal sound.”
Their most known songs
include “Tom Sawyer,”
“The Big Money” and
“The Spirit of Radio.”
