Despite being born in Hampshire, England, Fisher grew up moving regularly as a result of her father’s career in oil refinery construction. She was 12 years old when her family settled in Orange, Texas. At the age of 15, her life changed when her mother died, and she took on the responsibility of raising her younger brother. While in high school, Fisher developed an interest in theater and took Frances Fisher in “Resurrection” Fill in the grid so that every row, every column, and every 3x3 box contains the digits 1 through 9. The marriage lasted only two years before the couple got a divorce, and Fisher moved to New York City to pursue acting. During her 14 years in New York, she started her career on stage, landing leading roles in more than 30 regional and off-Broadway productions. In the late ‘70s, she started to transition to screen acting when she landed a recurring role on the soap opera “The Edge of Night” as Detective Deborah “Red” Saxon. In 1980, she left the daytime drama to pursue other options, but it was a number of years before she made ap- pearances on many popular TV series, including “Roseanne,” “Matlock” and “Law & Order.” She felt her career start to take off in 1992, when she starred in the award-winning film “Unforgiven” as Strawberry Alice, alongside Clint East- wood (“Gran Torino,” 2008). Fisher landed a number of gigs over the next couple years, but her next major role wasn’t until five years later when she starred alongside Kate Winslet (“Collateral Beauty,” 2016) and Leonardo DiCaprio (“The Revenant,” 2015) as Ruth De- Witt Bukater in the Academy Award-winning film “Titanic” (1997). Two years after Fisher’s Renata Anderson, MA Pam Wagenaar, Administrative Assistant 2237 SW Court, Pendleton 541-276-5053 www.renataanderson.com performance in “Titanic,” she appeared in “True Crime” (1999). From that point on, the dips in Fisher’s career ceased and she began working almost non-stop on both small- and big-screen productions. She became known for the incred- ible strength and elegance of her performances, which varied from corporate “fixer” Eva Thorne on “Eureka,” to Honey in “Sons of Anarchy,” to real estate mogul Mary Windsor in “The Lincoln Lawyer” (2011), to her leading role as Lucille Langston in “Resurrection.” While she’s achieved numer- ous successes in her career, she’s also had disappointments along the way, such as when her character (Billy’s mom) was cut from the 1988 film “Big.” However, no matter the cir- cumstance, Fisher always finds a silver lining. Commenting on her scenes being cut from “Big,” Fisher said, “It was very painful knowing [my scenes] were never going to be in the movie. But, hey, I got to meet Tom Hanks and become friends with him.” Fisher joins the DC Comics universe as sharp vet- erinarian Jane Crawford in the new HBO series “Watchmen,” which has been described as a sequel to both the comics and the 2009 film. Watch the series premiere of “Watchmen,” star- ring Fisher, on Sunday, Oct. 20, on HBO.
