Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs and a potluck dish to share. The senior cen- ter will provide hamburg- ers, hot dogs, punch, ice cream and table service. This year’s event is Saturday at Earl Snell Park in Arlington. PILOT ROCK — An open house at the Pilot Rock Food Pantry will feature a raffle and fundraiser. The food bank moved to a new facility in March. The event is Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 222 S.W. Third St. The food pantry obtained a grant through the Oregon Food Bank, said pantry director Teresa LaChapelle. The money provided them with the ability to purchase carts, air conditioners and shelv- ing, which is an integral part of the operation. “We are very proud of our facility and what we have to offer,” LaChapelle said. Over the years, the show has fea- tured everything from antique and classic cars to motorcy- cles and even a few tractors. The Arlington Show ’n’ Shine car show revs up Sat- urday with registration begin- ning at 9 a.m. The park is located off Interstate 84, Exit 137. There is no fee for spectators. The cost for vehicle entry is $10 per car. The first 50 of the park. St. Francis Mission Cath- olic Church will fire up the barbecue beginning at 11 a.m. And strawberry shortcake will be served up throughout the afternoon by the Method- ist Church Ladies. The family-friendly event also offers visitors a chance to cool down with floaties and toys for water play provided by the chamber. For added safety, lifeguards will be on duty in the lagoon area. The day also features Hula Hoop contests and the annual Rubber Duck Regatta. For a chance to win, purchase rub- ber ducks at the Arlington Hardware, 200 Arlington Port Road. Marta Mikkalo of the Arlington chamber said they are available for “a buck a duck.” Also, a poker walk pro- vides the winner with a $150 gift certificate to have some- thing made by local leather artist Ron Wilson Custom Leather. Air museum salutes Korean War veterans PENDLETON — The Pendleton Air Museum is hosting a special open house to coincide with National Korean War Vet- erans Armistice Day. The free event is Sat- urday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 21 S.W. Emigrant Ave., Pendleton. People are invited to stop by for conversation, coffee and cookies with Korean War veterans Ken Garrett, Tom Tangney, Richard Allstott and Paul Gadaire, who will be on hand through- out the day. In addition, museum visitors can learn about the historic connection between Pendleton and World War II, read vin- tage newspapers or view the memorial to area residents.
