Jill Hennessy
Canadian import
Canadian Jill Hennessy was
born in Edmonton, Alberta,
and later moved to Kitch-
ener, Ontario, to live with her
grandmother. She made her
film debut in 1988 alongside
her twin sister, Jacqueline, in
“Dead Ringers,” in which they
played twin call girls, and she
came close to landing the role
of Dana Scully in “The X-Files,”
but ultimately lost out to Gil-
lian Anderson. She picked
herself up quickly after that
disappointment, and by 1993,
she was cast as assistant dis-
trict attorney Claire Kincaid in
“Law & Order,” a role that she
held for three years. She moved
on to film roles and appeared
in projects like “Most Wanted”
(1997) with John Voight and
“Autumn in New York” (2000)
with Richard Gere and Winona
Ryder before heading back to

In 2001, “Crossing Jordan”
premiered with Hennessy in
the title role. She played Dr.
Jordan Cavanaugh, a forensic
pathologist who became ob-
sessed with solving crimes af-
ter her mother was murdered.
The series lasted six seasons,
and her costars included Jerry
O’Connell (“Billions”), Kathryn
Hahn (“Transparent”) and
Oscar winner Mahershala
Ali (“House of Cards”). Since

“Crossing Jordan” concluded,
Hennessy has had substantial
arcs in numerous TV shows
including “The Good Wife,”
“Madam Secretary,” “Shots
Fired” and “Bull,” and has
starred in a number of short-
lived or limited-run series
such as “Jo,” “Crawford” and
“Luck” — she starred in the
latter with legends Nick Nolte,
Richard Kind and Dustin Hoff-
man. The film roles have kept
coming too, and you can see
her in “Exit Wounds” (2001),
“Game of Life” (2007), “Wild
Hogs” (2007), “Roadie” (2011)
and “Lost in Time” (2018),
among other movies. Her
next major project premieres
Sunday, June 16, on Showtime:
she stars in “City On a Hill” as
Jenny Rohr, wife of respected
(but crooked) cop Jackie Rohr,
who is played by Kevin Bacon.
The series is set in Boston and
comes from producers and
Boston natives Ben Affleck and
Matt Damon.

QUOTES:
“I’ve found it easier to write,
to coalesce my thoughts, since
having children. It brings you
back to what you experienced
yourself as a child, and you em-
pathize with what your parents
went through.”
“I like someone who em-
braces life; who wants to be
on a long journey but has no
particular plan or destination
in mind. An adventurous man,
open to the concept of living
life in the moment.”
