(2:30) Pendleton East-Oregonian, OR: Sports Feb 20, 2019 to Feb 26, 2019 sports feature United States takes on England in SheBelieves Cup By Ryan Guebert TV Media T he fourth edition of the SheBelieves Cup kicks off on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania. The United States women’s national team hosts the tournament and takes on England in its second game on Saturday, March 2. Tune in to Fox for live action from Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The SheBelieves Cup is an invitational tournament that started in 2016 and is held at different stadiums across the United States. It is a round-robin tourna- ment with four teams participating (Bra- zil, England, Japan and the United States). Each team plays each other once, and the team with the most points at the end of the round-robin wins the tournament. The United States has won the tournament twice, and the team enters this year’s tournament as defending champion. The United States is at the top of the FIFA women’s world rankings and is the clear favorite. Co-captains Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe are expected to feature and lead the United States as they have done in the past. Morgan played a big role at last year’s CONCACAF championship, scoring seven goals to help the United States qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She began the tournament two goals away from becoming the seventh player in U.S. history to reach the 100-goal plateau. The SheBelieves Cup is considered a friendly tournament, but with the World Cup quickly approaching, this is an op- portunity for players to fight for a spot on the final squad headed to France in June. The United States also heads into that tournament as defending champion from 2015 and is favored to repeat. Catch Morgan’s U.S. women’s national team in action when it takes on England at Nissan Stadium on Saturday, March 2, for its second game of this year’s SheBe- lieves Cup. Tune in to Fox for live coverage of the game. East Oregonian and Hermiston Herald | February 20, 2019 Screentime | 5
