Tune in to NBC for live coverage of the outdoor battle of Pennsylvania. This year’s game is a rematch of the 2017 Stadium Series at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. The Penguins won that game 4-2 in front of more than 67,000 fans in attendance. This year’s game is expected to have the second-largest crowd in Sta- dium Series history with nearly 70,000 fans — Levi’s Stadium had 70,205 in at- tendance to watch the Los Angeles Kings defeat the San Jose Sharks in 2015. Following the all-star break, the Pen- guins were hanging onto a wild card spot while the Flyers were six positions outside of a playoff berth, appearing destined to miss the post-season for the fourth time in seven seasons since Claude Giroux was named team captain in 2013. After last season, when he had a career- making year with 102 points, Giroux has done his part in leading the team in points, but his underperformance has trickled down to players such as Jakub Voracek, Wayne Simmonds and James van Riemsdyk. The Penguins are having an unfamiliar- ly difficult season as they risk missing the post-season for the first time since cap- tain Sidney Crosby’s rookie season, 2005- 06. In that period of time, the Penguins have won the Stanley Cup three times. The team seems to grow stronger from season to season, adding players such as Patric Hörnqvist (2014), Phil Kessel (2015) and Derick Brassard (2018), while young prospects such as Olli Määttä, Jake Guentzel and Matt Murray continue to develop, showing promise for the fu- ture of the organization when franchise mainstays Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang have moved on. Find out if the Flyers can respond from two years ago and grab a Stadium Series win over the Penguins at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, Feb. 23. Tune in to NBC for live coverage of the longstanding Pennsylvanian rivalry. East Oregonian and Hermiston Herald | February 13, 2019 Screentime | 5
