Stanfield library sets
Food for Fines

STANFIELD — People with
library overdue fees at the Stan-
field Public Library, 180 W. Coe
Ave., can have their debt forgiven.
Food for Fines will forgive $1
in fines for each non-perishable
food item donated, up to $5. Peo-
ple can stop by the library between
Feb. 1-16 to take advantage of the
program. Food collected will be
donated to the local food bank.
Contra dance group
offers free lesson

Pendleton Center for the Arts, 214
N. Main St. The lesson and dances
are family friendly.
A form of social dancing, peo-
ple can attend without a partner.
Dancers in long lines follow the
instructions of a caller. At dances,
music is provided by local musi-
cians and callers teach the step
sequences before the music starts.
The Pendleton Contra Dance
Community holds dances on the
second Saturday of each month at
PENDLETON — The public is
invited to learn a dance style that
has roots in folk traditions, includ-
ing English country dance and
Appalachian dancing.
The Pendleton Contra Dance
Community is offering a free les-

Volunteering goes to
the birds
PENDLETON — Blue Moun-
tain Wildlife is hoping to increase
its volunteer efforts.
The nonprofit organization’s
mission is to preserve wildlife and
their habitats. Services include
wildlife rehabilitation and public
education. Its primary center is
5 miles south of Pendleton at
71046 Appaloosa Lane.
Currently they are searching for
a volunteer coordinator. Executive
director Lynn Tompkins said the
volunteer position would require a
person who has some free time as
well as organizational and people
