Sunrise Vegetation and Fuels Management
The draft record of decision (ROD) and final environmental
impact statement (FEIS) for the Pomeroy District’s Sunrise
Vegetation and Fuels Management project are now avail-
able for public review and comment. The project is intended
to manage vegetation to produce conditions more similar to
the historic range of variability that existed prior to fire sup-
pression. As much of the project area is within big game and
wildlife management areas identified in the Forest Plan, there
is also a need to continue providing cover and forage for wild-
life. The Sunrise project area is approximately 33,150 acres in
Asotin and Garfield Counties, Washington. The Sunrise proj-
ect is within portions of:
• Township 7 South, Range. 43 East, Section 6;
• Township 8 North, R. 42 East, Sections 1-5, 8-16, 22-26,
and 36;
• Township 8 North, R. 43 East, Section 2-11, 15-22, and 28-
33;

during scoping or other designated comment period. Issues
