RECORDS Friday, November 2, 2018 PUBLIC SAFETY LOG WEDNESDAY 8:07 a.m. - Oregon State Police responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed through the fence at the intersection of Bridge and Powerline roads, Hermiston. The vehicle was gone by the time police arrived and there were no witnesses. The property owner and neighbors repaired the fence to keep cows from escaping. 9:09 a.m. - A Hermiston resident asked to speak to an officer about a scam on Facebook. The caller said someone was selling a dog, and the seller wanted her to go to the Walmart and send $200. 9:35 a.m. - A resident on East Main Street, Irrigon, complained about her neighbor’s dog that climbs the 6-foot-tall fence, gets into her yard and drinks the water for her dogs. The caller said the trouble-making dog had puppies and she cleaned up after the dog. 10:40 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 report of domestic violence on North Franklin Street, Weston. 3:15 p.m. - A member of the Canal Neighborhood Watch on East Bridgitte Avenue, Hermiston, reported the theft of mail. 9:41 p.m. - The driver of a Kia Spectra heading north on Highway 11 near milepost 11 struck a pedestrian who stumbled into the road. The 53-year-old man suffered minor injuries, and an ambulance took him to St. Anthony Hospital, Pendleton. 10:33 p.m. - An anonymous caller asked Hermiston police to send officers to a residence on West Orchard Avenue where the tenant was playing loud music. ARRESTS, CITATIONS Wednesday •Pendleton police arrested Chance Lee Gibbs, 34, for first-degree criminal mischief (vandalism). •Milton-Freewater police arrested Clinton Robert Peterson, 31, of Milton-Freewater, for misdemeanor fourth-degree domestic violence assault. Thursday •Pendleton police arrested Larry Dale Bush, 54, of Umatilla, for felony fleeing, driving while suspended/revoked and possession of methamphetamine. Kaye McAtee Betty Adams-Caramella Echo November 29, 1932 - October 27, 2018 Portland September 14, 1932 - October 8, 2018 C. Kaye McAtee was born on November 29, 1932, in Pendleton, Oregon, to parents Cyril G. and Doris Done McAtee. He died on October 27, 2018, at his home in Echo, Oregon, at the age of 85 years. Kaye was raised in Pendleton and then Echo, Oregon, where he attended school and gradu- ated in the class of 1950. He served in the United States Army and was sta- tioned in Alaska until his honorable discharge when he McAtee returned to Echo, Oregon. Kaye attended Oregon State for a year before trans- ferring to Oregon Tech, where he earned his bache- lor of science in agriculture. He was united in marriage to Jessie Boyer on June 18, 1959, in Pasco, Washington. They leased and operated a farm outside of Echo, Ore- gon, and helped other area farmers with custom har- vesting for many years until he went to work for Glenn Rohde’s farm, where he was still working at the time of his death. He enjoyed fishing, sports, working and visit- ing with family and friends. Kaye was involved in many community organizations, including serving on the Echo School Board for over 25 years, Echo Fire Dept. Board, Echo Cemetery Board, Little League presi- dent and coach. He received the Conservationist of the Year award in 1972 for his farming practices. Kaye had an extraordinary memory with a wealth of local his- tory and knowledge that he was always excited to share. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jessie McA- tee, Echo, Ore.; daughters Donna (Fred) Bradbury, Pendleton, Ore., Brenda (Larry) Hunter, Echo, Ore., and Pamela Haney, Baker City, Ore.; sons Ted (Sharon) McAtee, Pendle- ton, Ore., Rob- ert (BJ) McA- tee, Echo, Ore., and Scott McAtee, Pilot Rock, Ore.; 10 grandchil- dren; 16 great-grandchil- dren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kaye was preceded in death by his parents, son Greg McAtee, grand- son Tyler Campbell, and a brother, Larry McAtee. A celebration of life ser- vice will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Burns Mortuary chapel, Hermiston, Oregon. She was born in Pendleton, Ore., on Christ- mas day, 1929, to Sarah and Edmund Doherty. Carole lived most her life in Pendleton, graduat- ing from St. Joseph Academy in 1947. She met the love of her life, Bob Streit, to whom she was married Streit for 37 years. She was a homemaker for many years, raising their four children, Kellie, Scott, Salli and Marla. Carole is the loving grandmother to Shannon, Kimber, Hailey and Jye, and great-grand- mother to Killian, Krew, Brody and Beckett. Carole was a devoted ser- vant of the Catholic Church and was immensely proud of her Irish heritage. Her strength came from a deep faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ. She was deeply loved and will certainly be missed. She is preceded in death by her hus- band, Bob, her par- ents, and her sister, Mary Edna.
