Saturday, October 27, 2018 Mary Ann Ryder, age 92, was born on June 18, 1926, in Moro, Oregon, to Gwen- doline and George Mitch- ell of Pendleton, Oregon. She grew up on the Pendleton Experi- ment Station (now known as the Uma- tilla County Exper- iment Station) located east of Pendleton, where her father was the supervisor. She enjoyed riding horses out on the Ryder ranch. Mary Ann attended Pendleton High School, graduating with the class of 1945, and Oregon State University. On August 11, 1946, she married Thomas C. Ryder of Pendle- ton. She and Tom were mar- ried 46 years until his death in 1992. They had four children: Andrea Anderly (Steve) of Portland, Ore., Mary Rhode (John) of Har- risburg, Pa., Bill of Pendle- ton, Ore., and Amy Johnson (Tim) of Pendleton, Ore. Mary Ann Ryder worked in early years of her mar- riage as the secretary at the Presbyterian Church. She also worked at the Pendle- ton Round-Up; for Dr. Buck McGowan, an obstetrician; and retired after working as a secretary at the Pendle- ton Middle School for many years. She was always very supportive of her children’s and grandchildren’s hob- bies and always ready to travel to attend one of their events. Mary Ann had many hobbies including read- ing, cross-stitching, making miniature houses, and researching genealogy. She achieved Life Mas- ter in bridge and played with her bridge friends into her nineties. She volunteered for many years with the Pendleton High School Aspire pro- gram, the Pendle- ton Public Library, and the Umatilla County Historical Museum. She was an active member of Pend- leton Presbyterian Church where she served as elder, deacon and moderator of the Presbyterian Women. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom in 1992, her parents Gwen and George, and her siblings Thomas Reese Mitchell and Carol Jane Orlando. She is survived by all her children, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Mary Ann passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Juniper House Assisted Living Center in Pendleton, Oregon. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Mon- day, October 29, 2018, at the Pendleton Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be sent to www.pioneer- chapel.com. Highway 207, Hermiston, for a complaint about a homeless man in the parking lot. 8:34 a.m. - A home south of the storage units on Strebin Farms on East Oregon Lane, Umatilla, was broken into, the farm’s owner reported. A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy took a report. 9:30 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and Boardman fire and ambulance personnel responded to a semitrailer rollover accident on westbound Interstate 84 near Boardman. 10:26 a.m. - A resident of Myrick and Adams roads reported a theft. A Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy took a report. 11:31 a.m. - An aggressive Doberman tearing apart the neighbor’s trash on Southeast Fourth Street, Irrigon, prompted a call to the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office. The caller said it was an ongoing problem and the dog had tried to bite deputies before. The dog’s owner told deputies he was trying to get rid of the dog, as it had been causing him problems. 12:41 p.m. - Greenwood Resources, 73669 Homestead Lane, Boardman, reported a theft to the Morrow County Sheriff’s Department. 1:01 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about a woman breaking into a garage on a property on Joy Lane, Hemriston. 3:22 p.m. - A resident of Northwest Riverside Avenue, Heppner, complained about two pit bull dogs fighting near the Willow Creek Water Park. A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy discovered the dogs were just playing, and had returned to their respective yards. 5:28 p.m .- Theft was reported by a resident of Southwest Ninth Street, Hermiston. 11:19 p.m. - Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla notified the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office of a person who came into the emergency room with a dog bite. FRIDAY 12:03 a.m. - Stanfield police were called to the Main Street Market, 210 S. Main St., for a reported assault. 12:36 a.m. - Umatilla County sheriff’s deputies received a report of aggressive dogs at large near Morgan Lane and Glemm Road, Hermiston. Deputies were unable to locate the dogs. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Department arrested Richard Andrew Miller, 29, of Hermiston, on charges of aggravated fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence and disorderly conduct after a caller said he was punching a woman in the yard of a house on Frontage Lane, Hermiston. He was lodged at the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, on $15,000 bond. •The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jason Dale Snow, 30, of Stanfield, for possession of methamphetamine and a probation violation, both felonies, and misdemeanor charges of contempt of court and driving under the influence of intoxicants (controlled substance). •Pendleton police arrested Sam D. Witty, 48, of La Grande, for felony driving while suspended. •Omar Mosqueda Camacho, 21, of Yakima, Wash., was arrested by Hermiston police on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and cocaine, and felon in possession of a weapon.
