Picard Donald Eugene Iliff Umatilla March 31, 1934 - August 28, 2018 Brazil, Indiana June 27, 1948 - August 28, 2018 WEDNESDAY 8:08 a.m. - Vandals left graffiti at South Board and East Mill streets, Weston. 11:55 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a disturbance at Athena Grocery, 313 E. Main St., Athena. 4:07 p.m. - Umatilla emergency services responded to a fire on Naches Avenue, Umatilla. 4:28 p.m. - A caller reported graffiti at Lorena’s Tienda, 330 S..W. 11th St., Hermiston. 6:48 p.m. - A son reported his father in Boardman has been drinking alcohol, now was missing and could be suicidal. Law enforcement found the father, and he talked of going into a rehabilitation facility and was staying at a friend’s house. 9:05 p.m. - Law enforcement received a report of an armed person at the Crossroads Truck Stop, 2020 Highway 730, Umatilla. ARRESTS, CITATIONS Tuesday •Hermiston police arrested Lladira Beas, 39, of Hermiston, for felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and on warrants. •The Morrow County Sheriff’s office at 3:12 p.m. responded to a home on Southwest Nevada Avenue, Irrigon, on a report of a man assaulting a woman. A caller reported the man was intoxicated, pushed the woman down steps and also threw an air conditioner. Deputies arrived and the woman denied anything happened, but they still arrested Nicholas Ryan Schiller, 24, of Irrigon, on a warrant for violating probation and booked him into the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton. Wednesday •The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert Glen Rupert, 53, of Shelton, Washington, for possession of a stolen vehicle, theft by receiving and on a felony fugitive warrant. The district attorney’s office charged Rupert on Thursday with possession of a stolen vehicle, three counts of first-degree aggravated theft, four counts of first-degree theft and one of second-degree theft. According to court documents, the state accused Rupert of stealing a flatbed trailer, welding equipment, and boxes and boxes of tools from the company H&B Crushing. •Pendleton police arrested Julie Louise Daga, 50, no address available, for driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol) and attempt to commit crime. Picard of Uma- tilla was born on March 31, 1934, in Shenandoah, Iowa, the daughter of Roland “Tex” and Helen (Erickson) Wilson. She passed away in Hermiston on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at the age of 84. Beth moved to Echo, Oregon, with her family in the early 1940s where she grew up and attended Picard her schooling. She married Marvin L. Picard in Pend- leton, Oregon, on May 1, 1952. The couple lived in the commu- nities of Kenne- wick and Richland before moving to San Jose, Calif., in the late 1950s. They returned to Oregon in the early 1960s and have resided in the Umatilla area since that time. Beth was a loving mother and grandmother. An avid reader, she read every Dan- ielle Steele and James Pat- terson novel that was writ- ten. She also enjoyed doing cross stitch and having family get-togethers. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Mar- vin; four sons, Kris (Kathy) Picard, Robin Picard, Larry (Diana) Picard and Kevin (Bon- nie) Picard; sister Marilyn Pratt; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grand- children. She was pre- ceded in death by her parents; a sister, Vanyla Stephens; and a brother, Dale Wilson. A memorial ser- vice will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sat- urday, September 8, 2018, at Burns Mortuary chapel, 685 W. Hermiston Ave., Hermiston, Ore.
