Online condolences may be shared at www.pioneer- chapel.com 1:03 a.m. - A caller reported hostile trespassers in the overnight camping area at Morrow County’s Cutsforth Park, about 21 miles southeast of Heppner. 8:37 a.m. - Umatilla police responded to graffiti at the Umatilla Baptist Church, 146 Columbia Blvd. Police also dealt that morning with graffiti at Alameda Court, the footbridge at Eighth and D streets and at the walking path on Seventh Street near the high school football field. 8:59 a.m. - Umatilla police took a report for the theft of $220 cash from a teacher’s purse last week at Clara Brownell Middle School, 1300 Seventh St. 11:07 a.m. - A Milton-Freewater resident on the 300 block of Northwest Eighth Avenue reported the theft of a piñata from her carport. 1:34 p.m. - Milton-Freewater had a second piñata theft, this time on the 200 block of Southeast 12th Avenue. 3:04 p.m. - Oregon State Police reported no one was injured in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 395 south of Pendleton. The driver of a Dodge Ram 1500 was heading south on the road when the alternator stopped working, causing the pickup to break down and block part of the lane. The driver of second southbound Dodge saw the pickup but was not able to avoid a collision. The right side of the second vehicle hit the left rear corner of the first. The impact pushed the first vehicle several feet, and the second vehicle spun several times before stopping and blocking both lanes of the highway. 2:59 p.m. - Umatilla fire responded to a grass fire that threatened structures on Chukar Lane. 3:40 p.m. - A caller told Hermiston police scam callers conned him and his wife out of $1,600. He said the fraudsters claimed law enforcement was going to arrest his wife if she did not pay, so they sent the funds in two money transfers from Walmart. The caller also said they provided their bank account information to the scammers. 10:37 p.m. - Hermiston police responded to a report of an assault the Gotta Stop Mini Mart, 1580 W. Highland Ave. SATURDAY 9:43 a.m. - Pendleton police responded to the back of Bi-Mart, 901 S.W. Emigrant Ave., on a report of two males dealing drugs but found no suspects. 9:47 a.m. - An injured great horned owl may get a second chance. Milton-Freewater callers reported the bird was under a car on Southwest Second Avenue and South Elizabeth Street. An Oregon State Police trooper took the owl to the nonprofit animal rescue Blue Mountain Wildlife, Pendleton. 9:45 p.m. - Six intoxicated youth got into an altercation with two other teens at the Circle K, 335 S.E. Court Ave., Pendleton, then ran across the street. SUNDAY 2:05 a.m. - A caller on Southwest California Avenue, Irrigon, reported an angry man was there and had a gun. A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy responded and drove the person to another residence for the night. 2:20 a.m. - Pendleton police responded to a male breaking a window at a business front on the 100 block of South Main Street. 6:48 a.m. - A Heppner resident on Southeast Chase Street reported catching five kittens and asked for a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy to take them. The deputy dropped the kittens at Pet Rescue Humane Society of Eastern Oregon, Hermiston. 9:57 a.m. - Morrow County law enforcement responded to the Oasis RV Park, Irrigon, on a report of gunfire. Officers found people testing guns and directed them to a gun range, 1:57 p.m. - A caller on Highway 395 north of Hermiston reported a deer was running around in the road and appeared to be in pain. 3:24 p.m. - A 65-year-old man crashed the motorcycle he was driving at Cutsforth Park on Willow Creek Road in south Morrow County. An ambulance took the rider to Pioneer Memorial Hospital, Heppner. 6:31 p.m. - A caller in Hermiston reported a thief stole a $200 lottery ticket and ran behind the Rite Aid, 835 S. Highway 395. Police did not find the suspect. 10:10 p.m. - A male on a bicycle assaulted a female at the Dairy Queen, 1415 S.W. Court Ave., Pendleton, but police did not find the assailant. ARRESTS, CITATIONS Friday •Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Noah David Farris, 18, of Athena, for fourth-degree assault. Farris was out of jail on a conditional release, according to Umatilla County Circuit Court records, following his arrest four days earlier for menacing, second-degree theft, second-degree trespass and resisting arrest. •Umatilla police arrested Giovanni Aguilar Ramirez, 21, of Plymouth, Washington, for violating probation, methamphetamine possession and supplying contraband (drugs). Umatilla County Circuit Court records show Ramirez on April 23 pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon (an automatic or switchblade knife).
