MAC-HI 8, RIVERSIDE 2 — At Milton-Freewater, the Mac-Hi Pioneers picked up their fourth win of the season with a 8-2 victory over the Riverside Pirates on Tuesday afternoon. The Pioneers (4-3) took advantage of the game with three runs in the first inning, first with a two-run double off the bat of Rudy Esparza and then an RBI groundout by Eric Rencken. From there, the Pioneers never looked back. Esparza had a team-best three RBI in the game, while Devin Humbert, Jesus Vela and Chase Fones had two hits each. Humbert and Vela also scored three runs each. Caven Pratten earned the win on the mound after tossing five innings with only three hits and one run allowed with four strikeouts. E 2 1 STANFIELD 15, SHERMAN 8 — At Stan- field, the Tigers picked up a solid non-league win on Tuesday with a 15-8 victory over the Sherman Huskies at Madigan Field. The Tigers (6-4) were led on offense by Damian Curial’s 4-for-5 day with three runs and two RBI, while Adrian Renner had two hits with a triple and TJ Smith had two hits with a double and four RBI. The Tigers and Huskies (3-2) were tied 6-6 after three complete innings, however the Tigers broke through with three runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take advantage. It spoiled a tremendous start from TigerScots’ pitcher Travis Hendley, who went six innings and struck out seven while allowing five hits and three runs and left with a 8-3 lead. In the seventh, Union (1-5) tallied only one hit while drawing three walks against three different pitchers and had the benefit of two Tiger- Scot (2-7) errors to earn the comeback win. Chance McDowell had two hits, two RBI and two runs for the TigerScots’ offense, while Brett Speed had a double and two RBI and Garrett Shell had a double. ———— McEwen TigerScots broke out the bats on Tuesday, cranking 17 hits for 19 runs to earn their first win of the season 19-2 over Enterprise. Jordyn Lambert was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three doubles, four runs and four RBI for the Tiger- Scots (1-4), Amie Coffman had three hits and four runs, and Whitney Roggerio was 2-for-4 with a double three RBI. Tyree Burke added four RBI with a double and a home run. IRRIGON 7, PEND- LETON JV 4 — At Pend- leton, the Irrigon Knights scored six runs over the final three innings to earn a 7-4 victory over the Pendleton Buckaroos JV squad on Tuesday afternoon. With the game tied 1-1 in the fifth, Johnny Phillips hit a two-RBI triple to center field, Mathew Moreno hit an RBI single to right and Phillips scored on a passed ball to give the Knights a 5-1 lead, which proved to be the game. Moreno had a team-best three hits for the Knights (4-3) and Adrian Roa and Lino Covarrubia each had two hits, while Covarrubia scored three runs. Austen Fell and Nat Hunsaker each had two hits to lead Pendleton. ———— UNION 9-16, HEPPNER 5-4 — At Heppner, the Mustangs hosted the Union Bobcats for a doubleheader and the Bobcats left town after sweeping the Mustangs 9-5 and 16-4 on Tuesday. Maggie Flynn was Heppner’s best hitter on the day, as she tallied a total of four hits with two doubles and a three-run home run. Sydney Wilson had two hits and two RBI and Morgan Correa had two hits in Game 2, and Evan Martin had two hits with two runs in Game 1. Bullock pitched the first three frames and struck out three with two hits allowed and Stallings threw the final three and tallied four strike- outs with one hit allowed. Stallings also helped herself out with two hits at the plate. Ashlyn Marly was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored for Mac-Hi (8-2), while Courtney Cain was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI and one run scored. Sevin Birdwell also had two RBI. Game 2 R H E HELIX 3, STANFIELD 0 — At Helix, the Grizzlies hosted the Stanfield Tigers for their first home match of the season and won 3-0 in an all-singles match. For the boys, Helix’s Cody Dunn defeated Stanfield’s Noel Montez 8-1 and Helix freshman Brice Fairchild earned his first win of the season 8-3 over Stanfield’s Dyson Wilson. On the girls side, Helix’s Makenzie Dunn defeated Ita Gomez 8-5 in the only regulation match of the day. Dunn also earned a 8-0 win over Zoe Russell, however it was an exhibition match after Helix’s No. 2 player was not able to make it to the match. TRACK & FIELD HERMISTON BULL- DOGS — At Hermiston, the Bulldogs’ boys and girls track and field teams defeated The Dalles handily in a dual meet on Tuesday at Kennison Field. The Hermiston boys defeated The Dalles 81-64 while the girls won 110-34. For the boys, three Bulldogs earned first place in multiple events. Jonathan Hinkle was first in the 100-meter dash (11.71) and the 200-meter dash (23.73), Tyler Rohrman first in both the 110-meter hurdles (15.54) and 300-meter hurdles (41.94), and Jackson Morgan first in the high jump (6-02) and the triple jump (37-00). Also winning their events was Antonio Fernandez in shot put (45-09), Carson Wrathall in pole vault (11-06), Jacob McCabe in long jump (17-04) and the 4x100 relay team of Garrett Walchli, Deryk Anderson, Hinkle and Rohrman (45.25). The Hermiston girls earned a first place finish in 13 of the 17 events. Madison Wilson won twice in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.77) and 300-meter hurdles (49.79) and also was a part of the 4x100 relay team that finished first (51.18). Also winning was Scout Reagan in the 100-meter dash (13.19), Elsa Torres in the 200-meter dash (26.95), Melany Solorio in 1500-meter run (5:23.08), Shelia Solorio in the 3000-meter run (11:37.99), Stephanie Miears in shot put (39-02, PR), Sheridan Deike in discus (100-08, PR), Jazlyn Romero in javelin (120-10, PR), Abigail Sharon in high jump (5-02), MaKaylee Young in long jump (15-05) and McKayla Pacheco in triple jump (30-10).
