MONDAY
Agape House holds
parking lot sale
3 a.m. - A Pilot Rock resident on Southwest
Third Street called 911 and reported someone
— possibly a relative — was breaking into the
shop.
9:32 a.m. - A Hermiston resident asked to
speak to an officer about threats he has been
receiving.
11:24 a.m. - A husband said his wife’s
$1,000 bow was in the back of their pickup
on West Orchard Avenue, Hermiston, and
someone stole it during the night.
12:29 p.m. - Residents on Northeast First
Avenue, Milton-Freewater, reported someone
stole their battery charger sometime Saturday
night.
12:30 p.m. - One person suffered minor
injuries in a three-vehicle collision on the
northbound side of Highway 395 at Northwest
Livestock Lane.
Oregon State Police reported a Honda
Accord was turning right on Livestock when a
Chevrolet Avalanche pickup crashed into the
Honda’s rear. The car rotated and smashed
into another pickup that was stopped.
The crash totaled the Honda, state police
reported, and the driver complained of pain.
An ambulance took the Honda’s driver to
Good Shepherd Medical Center, Hermiston.
The pickups drove away, but not before
state police cited Jon Charles Lorence, 51, of
Umatilla, for causing the crash.
1:03 p.m. - Emergency agencies
extinguished a shed fire on East May Street,
Heppner.
1:45 p.m. - Renters moved out of a place
on Seagull Road, Irrigon, a caller reported, but
left behind their dogs.
3:43 p.m. - Mid Columbia Bus Company,
1740 E. Airport Road, Hermiston, reported
someone wrote $2,500 worth of checks to
herself from an employee account.
4:20 p.m. - A father told Hermiston police
his daughter walked home on East Ridgeway
Avenue and two boys from her class threat-
ened her.
5:18 p.m. - Stanfield police responded to a
burglary on South Thielsen Street, Echo, and
took a report.
HERMISTON — Clothing, furniture,
bicycles and knick-knacks are all on sale
Saturday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Agape
House, 500 Harper Road, Hermiston.
Clothing is five items for $1, furniture
and bikes are priced as marked and bins
of knick-knacks are you-name-the-price.
The sale will be held inside in the event of
inclement weather. Donations for the sale
will be accepted through Friday.
Agape House is a non-profit organization
serving those in need in western Umatilla
and Morrow counties. For more information,

Theater provides special
sensory viewing
HERMISTON — A sensory-friendly
screening of “A Wrinkle in Time” is
available for those who may need some
accommodations when attending a movie.
During the special showing, the lights
are up a little, the volume is down some and
people have the flexibility to move around.
The arrangement is made possible through
a partnership with The Arc Umatilla County
and Hermiston Stadium 8 Cinema.
The special showing is Saturday at 10:30
a.m. at 355 W. Theater Lane, Hermiston.
Tickets are $5.
The film has been described as visually
gorgeous, big-hearted and occasionally quite
moving. The story centers around Meg Murry
(Storm Reid), a typical middle school student
who is struggling with self-esteem and fitting
in. The movie also features Oprah Winfrey
and Reese Witherspoon.
A nonprofit organization, The Arc offers
activities to help in connecting the community
and expanding opportunities for people

Fundraiser deals in
poker and more
IONE — It’s time to deal in some fun
while raising money for the Ione American
Legion & Auxiliary.
The Bob Baker Memorial Texas Hold ‘em
Poker, Bingo and Bunco Fundraiser is gearing
up for its 14th year. Other fundraising activities
also include a bake sale, a rifle raffle (Henry
.22 long rifle lever action repeater) and two
drawings for half a beef each, cut and wrapped.
Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
The event is Saturday with the doors
opening at 5 p.m. at the American Legion
Hall, 325 W. Second St., Ione. A sandwich
and salad bar meal is by donation. Also,
beverages are available for purchase. Game
sign-ups are at 6 p.m.
The bunco buy-in is $10. The poker buy-in
is $40 (with re-buys until 7:30 p.m.) Bunco
runs from 5-7 p.m. and bingo is from 7-9 p.m.

Boardman to sponsor
spring cleanup
BOARDMAN — The city of Boardman
will sponsor a community-wide cleanup
the month of April. The city has garbage
vouchers available, with a $50 limit, to
Boardman residents. The vouchers are valid
during the month of April at Finley Butte
Landfill and the North Morrow Transfer
Station. The garbage voucher program
encourages citizens to clean up their
residences by disposing of yard debris.
In conjunction with the month-long
cleanup, Morrow County North Transfer
Station will be hosting a free Household
Hazardous Waste Event on Saturday April 7
from 9 a.m. to noon for all Morrow County
residents. They will be collecting all paints,
batteries, oils and filters, household cleaners,
glues and much more. Garbage vouchers are
not required for disposal of these items.
City residents may pick up their vouchers
at Boardman City Hall, 200 City Center
Circle, beginning March 30. For more
