A scheduled time for post-beginner
throwers to get together and continue
explorations on the pottery wheel.
Marie will be available to troubleshoot
and answer questions as you fine tune
your throwing skills. Materials include a
bag of clay, access to tools and glazes,
and firing time. Prerequisite: 2 terms
of beginning wheel throwing or recent
college-level ceramics course.

POTTERY: BEGINNING WHEEL
THROWING

Use the pottery wheel to make
functional ceramic forms. Marie will
share info about process, materials,
and tools, and students will get plenty
of wheel-time to practice. All materials
supplied in class, including clay and
ample open studio time. This class
fills quickly so be sure to send in your

note: throwing clay can involve strain
on the wrists and upper body, check
out our Ceramic Handbuilding class for
a low-impact option.

In this 3-part series, we will make fabric
collage postcards that reflect original
expressions, can be mailed, and are
suitable for framing. Turn a sentimental
greeting card into a long-lasting
expression that is uniquely yours and
meant for exactly the person intended.
Each month will feature a different
theme and creative prompts and ideas
to get you started. Designs can be
sewn or fused together, then stitched if
desired onto a base. There is no limit
to what kind of art to apply; paints and
markers, stitches, beads, and more. All
materials will be provided in class. Join
us for one class or come to all three!

JEWELRY MAKING: THE BASICS

Be able to say, “I made it myself”
next time someone compliments you
on your jewelry. Jean will give you
the tools you need to get started on
creating your own jewelry. You can
even bring in that favorite broken
necklace or bracelet you haven’t let go
of yet and make it new again! Students
will learn about proper jewelry making
materials and techniques including
wire loops, bead stringing, and more.
You will have the opportunity to
create one or more beautiful pieces
of jewelry such as earrings, bracelets,
and necklaces. Bring your own beads,
broken jewelry to remake, or chose
from the Arts Center collection.
