East Oregonian For the second time in less than a week the Neighborhood Grocery in Milton-Freewater was the target of an armed robbery. And a late-night robber also hit Hermiston’s 11th Street Market. Milton-Freewater Police Chief Doug Boedigheimer said his department could be closing in on their suspect, who may be responsible for both robberies at Neighborhood Grocery. The latest took place Monday at 4:35 p.m., Boedigheimer reported, and the suspect again carried a pistol into the store at 209 N.W. Eighth Ave. “The store employee,” according to Boedigheimer, “based on their verbal exchange with the suspect, believes it is the same person that robbed the store a few days prior.” The robber is male, has a medium build, is approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and could be Hispanic with a light complexion with shoulder- length dark-colored hair. He also had “a scruffy goatee beard, a quasi Fu Manchu mustache, with what appears to be a mole on the right side of his face near the curvature of the mustache,” according to Boedigheimer. The suspect wore a zippered coat with an attached hood along with a “brimmed beanie” hat and a black pair of running-type pants with red striping down the sides of the legs. Milton-Freewater police is seeking help from the community to identify the robber. “If you see this person, or someone who resembles this person, please call 911 immediately and report your sighting,” Boedigheimer urged. But he also cautioned the suspect is armed and therefore is dangerous, so do not approach or attempt to contact the person. And Hermiston police also are searching for an armed robbery suspect. Police Lt. Randy Studebaker reported the crime happened shortly after 11 p.m. at the 11th Street Market, 425 N.W. 11th St., when a woman entered, displayed a weapon, demanded money and fled. No one was hurt during the robbery. Studebaker described the suspect as a short, heavyset, Hispanic female in her early 20s. She wore dark clothing and covered her face. Investigators are following on leads, according to Studebaker, but Hermiston police also asked anyone with information about the crime to call the department at 541-567-5519. MORE WINNERS.
