Allan Gutierrez (220), Michael Carroll (285), Jose Puerta (145), Jacob Harris (138) and Abraham Silva (113) all won by forfeit. Fernando Ortega (106) won by a 11-6 decision, while Chance Hendrickson (120) won by a narrower margin — a 7-4 decision. Both Christian Reyes (126) and Ethan Snyder (132) won by fall, pinning their opponents in 2:55 and 1:49, respectively. Pendleton, Irrigon, Mac-Hi and Heppner all failed to make it out of their pools in the round robin tournament. Pendleton and Irrigon wrestled for fi rst place fi nishes in its respective bonus rounds, while Heppner and Mac-Hi were both in contention for third place in its bonus rounds. In the semifi nal round of the 5A Bonus Round 1, Pendleton defeated Eagle Point 48-34. Nearly all of the Buckaroos were able to pin their opponents in the fi rst round of their bouts. Alex Rendon (132) won by fall in 0:42. Aiden Patterson (170), Kirk Liscom (182) and Perry Markgraf (285) all won by fall in less then a minute, as well. Brendon Bedolla (138) and Isaac Urbina (152) brought down their opponents in 1:19 and 1:20, respectively, while it took Blake Davis (145) 5:08 to pin his. In the 3A Bonus Round 3, Irrigon easily defeated Coquille, 54-18. Seven Knights won by forfeit, and the Knights that did hit the mat pinned both their opponents by the second round of their respective bouts. It took Silvestre Vasquez (138) only 0:56, while Josue Aguilera (160) trapped his opponent in 2:53. In their respective bonus rounds, Heppner was defeated 34-22 at the hands of North Lake, and Mac-Hi tied Henley 36-36 but lost on a tiebreak. For the Mustangs, only Leo Waite (132), Zach Bredfi eld (145), Carson Brosnan (152) and Ethan Holmgren (182) were victorious in the match. For the Pioneers, Kiez White (113), Layne Ensey (120), Zach Crisman (138), Kyler Kelly (160), Brandyn Chaney (195) and Joshua (Torres) all earned wins against Henley. GIRLS BASKETBALL WALLOWA 49, ECHO 47 — At Echo, Rachel McCarty led the Echo Cougars with 16 points but it was not enough to take down the Wallowa Cougars on Saturday evening. Echo (6-11 overall, 1-5 Old Oregon League) was hurt by a woeful game at the free throw line as it shot 12 for 33 (36 percent). Marti Huff and Tylene Skillman both added double doubles for Echo as Huff had 12 points and 14 rebounds and Skillman had 12 points and 11 rebounds. JOSEPH 57, HELIX 31 — At Joseph, the Helix Griz- zlies shot just 25 percent from the fi eld and had only one scorer reach double fi gures in a loss to Joseph on Saturday. Hannah Christman led the Grizzlies (9-7 overall, 3-3 Old Oregon League) with 11 points and eight rebounds. Sadie Wilson had a tough game inside as the senior fi nished with fi ve points on 2 for 10 shooting. HERMISTON 67, LA GRANDE 38 — At La Grande, the Hermiston Bull- dogs snapped a three-game skid as they thumped the La Grande Tigers on Saturday. Junior Jordan Thomas led the Bulldogs (3-11 overall) with 22 points. Delaney Lester led the Tigers (7-7) with 17 points. The two teams will recon- vene on Tuesday night at Hermiston High at 5:45 p.m. CULVER 35, STAN- FIELD 27 — At Stanfi eld, Irma Retano scored 13 points and Ryanne Scholl added 12 as the Culver Bulldogs defeated the Stanfi eld Tigers on Saturday evening. Kendra Hart led the Tigers (2-14 overall, 0-2 Columbia Basin Conference) and Savannah Sharp added six. Culver (11-5, 2-0) hosts Heppner on Thursday at 6 p.m. Stanfi eld travels to Riverside on Tuesday. NIXYAAWII 82, PINE EAGLE 19 — At Mission, the Nixyaawii Golden Eagles rolled to another win on Saturday, as the coasted past Pine Eagle 82-19. Nixyaawii (14-0 overall, 5-0 Old Oregon League) will next host Joseph on Friday. DUFUR 52, CONDON/ WHEELER 38 — At Condon, the Dufur Outlaws extended their winning streak to three straight games after defeating Condon/Wheeler 52-38. The Knights now move to 2-13 overall and 2-3 in the Big Sky League and will next host Ione on Friday. SHERMAN 65, ARLINGTON 24 — At Arlington, the Honkers losing streak was extended to six games on Saturday as they were thumped by the Sherman Huskies. Arlington (1-6 overall, 0-4 Big Sky League) will next play Mitchell/Spray at Spray on Friday night. WESTON-MCEWEN 69, HEPPNER 48 — At Heppner, the Weston- McEwen TigerScots started league play on the right foot as they beat the Heppner Mustangs on Saturday evening. It was the third straight win for the TigerScots (9-6 overall, 1-0 Columbia Basin Conference), who next travel to Waitsburg (WA) on Tuesday evening. The Mustangs (9-4, 1-1) next play at Culver on Thursday. SOUTH WASCO COUNTY 56, IONE 26 — At South Wasco, the Ione Cardinals couldn’t put together back-to-back wins as South Wasco County won its fi fth straight game. The Cardinals (2-11 overall, 1-2 Big Sky League) next travels to Mitchell/Spray on Tuesday at 6 p.m. BURNS 38, UMATILLA 14 — At Burns, the Umatilla Vikings remain winless in the Eastern Oregon League as they fell to Burns on Saturday. Umatilla (3-13 overall, 0-2 Eastern Oregon League) will host Nyssa on Friday. BOYS BASKETBALL LA GRANDE 58, HERMISTON 48 — At La Grande, the Hermiston Bull- dogs’ lost their fi fth straight game with a 10-point defeat at the hands of the La Grande Tigers. Turnovers and missed opportunities hurt Hermis- ton’s chance at a comeback. In the fi rst half alone, the Bulldogs committed 12 turn- overs which led to a 27-18 halftime lead for the Tigers. Hermiston (4-9) battled back, behind a 16-point performance from Andrew James, and came out of the break to outscore the Tigers 16-11 in the third quarter. However, La Grand (10-6) ran away with it at the end thanks to the efforts of juniors Hunter Youngblood and Braden Bell, who led the team with 16 and 11 points, respectively. The Bulldogs will get a chance to tie the series as La Grande will travel to Herm- iston for a rematch Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. HEPPNER 64, WESTON-MCEWEN 63 — At Heppner, Trent Smith scored 20 points and Alex Lindsay scored 10 as the Mustangs defeated Weston- McEwen to fi nish the fi rst weekend of league play 2-0. Heppner (7-6 overall, 2-0 Columbia Basin Confer- ence) was up 39-33 at the half, but Weston-McEwen (5-11, 0-1) came out of the break and knocked down 18 points to take it fi rst lead since the opening quarter. The Mustangs outscored the TigerScots 15-12 in the fourth quarter to seal the deal. Brett Speed led the Tiger- Scots with 26 points. Next, Heppner travels to Culver on Thursday, while Weston-McEwen hosts Pilot Rock on Friday. WALLOWA 54, ECHO 49 — At Echo, the visiting Wallowa Cougars outlasted Echo in overtime to win 54-49 on Saturday. Devan Craig led Echo (6-11 overall, 3-3 Old Oregon League) with 15 points and Morgan Marcum added 13. Christopher Noble led Wallowa (8-7, 3-3) with a game-high 26 points. Echo will take the court again Friday when it travels to Cove. STANFIELD 54, CULVER 47 — At Stanfi eld, the home Tigers earned their fi rst league win of the season after outlasting Culver 54-47 in overtime on Saturday. The Tigers (8-9 overall, 1-1 Columbia Basin Confer- ence) travel to Riverside on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. JOSEPH 49, HELIX 35 — On the road, Helix was hit with its fi fth consecutive loss after Joseph routed the Grizzlies 49-35. The Grizzlies (1-15 overall, 0-6 Old Oregon League) next host Pine Eagle on Friday. CONDON/WHEELER 62, DUFUR 44 — Returning home, Condon/Wheeler brushed off its most recent loss and got back to its winning ways as the Knights defeated the Dufur Outlaws 62-44. Condon/Wheeler (10-5 overall, 4-1 Big Sky League) will continue to have the home-court advantage when Ione comes to town Friday. BURNS 43, UMATILLA 35 — At Burns, the Umatilla Vikings came off the high of Friday’s win over Irrigon and crashed on Saturday as they scored a season-low 35 points in a loss to the Hilanders. The Vikings (13-4 overall, 1-1 Eastern Oregon League) next host Nyssa on Friday. SHERMAN 56, ARLINGTON 41 — Sherman is near perfect on the season, and it continued its streak Saturday at Arlington. The Huskies handed the Honkers a 56-41 loss, and while they move their win streak to eight straight games. Arlington (6-7 overall, 2-2 Big Sky League) is looking to go above .500 in league when it travels to Spray on Friday. IONE 52, SOUTH WASCO COUNTY 50 — In a thrilling fashion, Ione defeated South Wasco County 52-50 in overtime Saturday. The win was just want the Cardinals needed, as they opened up league play with two consecutive losses. Ione (3-10 overall, 1-2 Big Sky League) will remain on the road with a trip to Spray on Tuesday. SWIMMING BAKER CITY — The Hermiston Bulldogs returned to the pool on Saturday and turned in a combined third place fi nish. In the boy’s 50-yard free- style, Ryan Barnard earned fi rst place and seven points for the team after clocking 24.61. Barnard also stunned his competition in the 100-yard butterfl y, winning in 59.49. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Hermiston boys claimed fi rst place in 3:48.57 and edged out the second- place Tigers by 90 seconds. Making up the team was Keaton Mikimi, Ryland Kestler, Alexis Perez and Preston Strong. The boys 200-yard relay team of Carson Wrathall, Seth Buck, Lane Stevenson and Barnard fi nished in second place with a time of 1:52.63. On the boys team in the 100-yard freestyle, Buck — who entered unseeded — earned second place after he fi nished in 57.45. Only Buck and the La Grande Tiger who fi nished fi rst swam sub-one minute times. Buck also earned second in the 100-yard breast stroke (1:14.41).
