ARIES (March 21-April 19). To craft
a surprise for another person re-
quires you to be thoughtful, clever,
knowledgeable of the other person’s
rhythms and tendencies... Bottom
line: To craft a surprise is a rather
unforgettable act of love.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). New
friends are often acquired in a set-
ting of common interest. That’s why
you help your chances along by fol-
lowing your curiosities and frequent-
ing the places and topics that really
do delight you.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Some
may know “just enough to be dan-
gerous,” but a lot of ignorance is
really much more dangerous than
a little knowledge. A factually accu-
rate education will be the balm that
helps all steer clear of danger.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). There
are so many strange paradoxes in
the world to reconcile. You may fully
buy in to two opposite beliefs today.
It actually isn’t that confusing as
long as you don’t think of them both
at once.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You love
someone, and you want to make
that person happy. And yet, to sur-
render your own will to the approval
and good opinion of another would
make you a slave to love. True love
is unbound.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Cel-
ebrating your accomplishment in
some way is absolutely critical to
the success cycle. It might not seem
important to you, but do it anyway.
Otherwise the cycle will be broken
and ineffective in gaining momen-
tum.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21).
One way to turn the fortunes in your
favor is to organize your world the
way you want it. As in all other or-
ganizational efforts, decide on your
primary aims first, and then figure
out how you’re going to support
those ideas.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). A
black hole isn’t really a hole; rath-
er, it’s a magnificently dense object
with enormous gravitational pull.
Relatedly, there’s something in your
life that you once thought of as emp-
ty space that is actually loaded with
power.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You’ll
give yourself fully to those closest to
you, so you really need to make sure
that your inner circle includes peo-
ple you can count on to understand
you. This is one of the cornerstones
of your well-being.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). There’s
no time to wait around for people to
make their minds up. You know what
you want, so start moving. The high
value you place on your time and
energy will inspire others to value
it, too.
TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Jan. 13).
You’re impressively capable. You’ll
attract people who are equal in this
quality, as well as those who are se-
riously lacking in it. Team with the
former; work for the latter. You’ll rack
up the good reviews and charge
much more after August. Love will
be lavished on you all year, though
April and June will be especially ro-
mantic. Pisces and Leo adore you.
Your lucky numbers are: 5, 6, 44, 41
and 38.

nents of which are known to be toxic. Prospective purchasers of

PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that the City of Umatilla Planning Commis-
sion will meet on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 beginning at 7:00

Lifeways Variance (V-1-2017): The applicant requests approval
of a variance to the six (6) foot height restriction on fences in the
McNary Center Mixed Use Zone. The property has been devel-
oped with a six-foot fence surrounding the existing treatment cen-
ter and utilizes a ditch to achieve an eight-foot height as required

for the facility. Therefore, the applicant is requesting a variance to
allow the facility to remove the ditch and replace the existing six-
foot fence with an eight-foot fence. The subject property is identi-
fied as Tax Lot 6200 on Assessors Map 5N2815AD and the situs
address is 290 Willamette Ave, Umatilla, OR 97882 Applicant and
property owner, Lifeways.

are found in Section 10-13-1 of the Umatilla Municipal Code.

timony may be submitted to the Planning Department, 700 Sixth
Street, PO Box 130, Umatilla, Oregon 97882 prior to 5:00 p.m.

address how the applicant does or does not comply with the ap-
plicable criteria or standards on which the Planning Commission
must base its decision.
A copy of the application and all documents and evidence submit-
ted by or on behalf of the applicants are available for inspection at
no cost. A copy will be provided upon request at reasonable cost.
A copy of the staff report will be available at least seven days prior
to the hearing.
Failure of an issue to be raised in a hearing, in person or by letter,
or failure to provide statements or evidence sufficient to afford the
decision maker an opportunity to respond to the issue precludes
appeal to the Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) on that issue.
Umatilla City Hall is handicapped accessible. If special accom-
modations are needed for persons with hearing, visual, or man-
ual impairments who wish to participate in the hearing, please
contact City Hall at (541) 922-3226 at least 72 hours prior to the
meeting so that appropriate assistance can be arranged.
