Dorys C. Grover said when Jim Smootz took the 90-year-old to the museum, he decided to donate the vehicle that he purchased several years ago in Pasco. “With a little help from Donna Richards, we textured the hood from its yellow paint by throwing a little dirt on it to make it look brown,” Evans said. The vehicle, which was mostly in its original condition, had been stored until recently, Grover said. After receiving no serious offers for the vehicle, Evans decided the museum would be a great home for the vintage vehicle. The Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum, which opened in 2007, features an extensive collection of antique aircrafts and vintage auto- mobiles. Most of the antique and classic vehicles are still in running condition. Museum visitors can ride in vehicles during the Second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, many who arrive early may be asked to give a hand in fi ring up the engines. The museum collection, which is housed in a 3.5-acre indoor hangar facility, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s located at 1600 Air Museum Road, The Jessens in 2016 Jarry & Dixie Jessen Photo contributed by Dorys Grover Denny Evans of Pendleton recently donated a vintage Model A to the Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum in Hood River.
