8:43 a.m. - Hermiston police received a report of solicitors
without a permit who were painting curbs in the area of River
Hill Drive and Southwest 17th Street. Police did not find the
suspects.
12:59 p.m. - A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy took care
of a horse on Northwest Riverside Avenue, Heppner. The
animal was off its owner’s property and in another yard, so
the deputy coaxed the horse back to its proper location and
even put up the fence.
3:56 p.m. - A caller on Diablo Court, Umatilla, told police
people were posting notices on doors.
4:06 p.m. - Milton-Freewater residents on the 700 block of
Northeast Sixth Court reported the thefts. The first caller said
someone took cans and two bicycles, and about four hours
later, a second caller reported the theft of property.
6:17 p.m. - A 911 caller reported on Northwest Spruce
Street, Hermiston, reported a male and female physically
fighting.
6:23 p.m. - A 911 caller reported a fire near the power pole
at the intersection of Highway 730 and Highway 37.
7:08 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received
a request to check on an older neighbor who lives alone on
North First Street, Irrigon. The caller said she tried contacting
the neighbor all day but there was no response. The sheriff’s
office was not able to find the person in question.
9:07 p.m. - A Weston caller reported a cougar just walked
over his back porch and crossed South Water Street to the
vacant lot with a lot of trees.
10:09 p.m. - Hermiston police received a 911 report from
the 100 block of East Main Street for a male who hit a female
and bloodied her face and eye.
11:20 p.m. - A caller told Umatilla police he lost a money
bag with cash and business checks at the intersection of
Highway 730 and Highway 395. Police did not find the bag.
SATURDAY
11:35 a.m. - A caller reported the theft of a vehicle from
Tom’s Country Chrysler Jeep Dodge, 81143 N. U.S. Highway
395, Hermiston.
1:49 p.m. - Umatilla police received an emergency report
of a vehicle theft at Fifth Street and Switzler Avenue.
2:44 p.m. - Six goats wandered into a yard on West Fourth
Road, Irrigon, the property owner reported, and she did not
know who they belonged to, but she closed the gate so they
would not be on the road.
7:43 p.m. - Hermiston police responded to a disturbance
on the 1300 block of North First Street.
7:49 p.m. - A caller reported a fire at Battle Mountain State
Park off Highway 395 near Ukiah.
11 p.m. - A caller reported a bigger, “highly intoxicated”
man urinated in the street in front of Bucknum’s. 152 N. Main
St., Heppner. A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy found the man
sleeping in his vehicle and took no action.
SUNDAY
4:32 a.m. - A woman on No Name Lane, Umatilla, called
911 and said she was robbed and needed help.
1:34 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a
report of a burglary on Oregon Trail Road, Echo.
3:50 p.m. - Law enforcement in Arlington asked the
Morrow County Sheriff’s Office for help spotting a man who
exposed himself indecently. The sheriff’s office reported no
luck in finding the suspect.
6:53 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office responded
to a dispute and fight between neighbors at Green Acres RV
Park, 80542 Paterson Ferry Road, Irrigon. The deputy talked
to all parties and found their stories were inconsistent.
Seven minutes later, a caller on Northeast Second Street,
Irrigon, reported she and her boyfriend were fighting and he
shoved her. The deputy talked to both parties and separated
them.
8:55 p.m. - A man reported the theft of a tire from his
vehicle while at Center Market, 530 N. Main St., Stanfield.
ARRESTS, CITATIONS
Friday
•Hermiston police arrested Jordan Delano Crandall, 26,
of 80973 Alpine Drive, Hermiston, for possession of metham-
phetamine and on warrants for failure to appear, contempt of
court and felony probation violations.
•Hermiston police arrested Adrian Torres Nava, 18, of
1070 W. Orchard Ave., Apt. C8, Hermiston, for strangulation,
harassment, second-degree criminal mischief (vandalism)
and violating a restraining order, all misdemeanors. Umatilla
County Circuit Court records show four other criminal cases
pending for theft and burglary.
•Umatilla tribal police arrested Timothy Golden McMurphy,
31, of Pendleton, for possession of methamphetamine and
felony probation and parole violations.
Saturday
•Oregon State Police trooper Tyler Steele at 12:51 a.m.
contacted a teenage boy on the westbound side of Interstate
84, according to state police, and found he was in possession
of more than an ounce of marijuana.
The teen lied about his age, but Umatilla County dispatch
helped the trooper identity the boy was 17 and from North
Carolina. State police also reported he was homeless and
had no family in Oregon.
Steele seized the boy’s marijuana and tobacco, took him
to the state police office in Pendleton and contacted the
Oregon Department of Human Services. A social worker
arrived and took the boy into custody, and state police cited
him for giving false information to police, minor in possession
of tobacco and possession of more than an ounce of usable
marijuana by a person younger than 21.
•Law enforcement in Morrow County at 4:02 a.m. received
a report of a drunk male on a woman’s front porch at Wilson
Road Mobile Home Park, 600 Wilson Road S.W., Boardman.
The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office cited a juvenile for minor
in possession of alcohol and marijuana.
•Boardman police arrested Mario Morales Jr., 34, of
Boardman, for possession of methamphetamine.
•Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Raymond Blair
Tyrrell, 53, of Milton-Freewater, for menacing, harassment,
and the domestic violence charge of fourth-degree assault.
•Oregon State Police at about 7:55 p.m. tried to stop
a white Chevrolet Suburban on Highway 37 for a lighting
violation, but the driver kept going a short distance before
pulling over near Northwest Carden Avenue, Pendleton.
Another officer arrived, and the police detained the driver,
a 17-year-old local girl, and the passenger, Jason Michael
Francisco Garza, 27, of Irrigon. The girl said Garza was
her boyfriend and told her to keep driving because he had
warrants, according to state police, and the girl allowed
officers to search the vehicle.
State police reported trooper Wesley Linhart found a
methamphetamine pipe and a few grams of meth, and Garza
later said those were his. Police also found he had two felony
and two misdemeanor warrants.
Linhart arrested Garza and booked him into the Umatilla
County Jail, Pendleton, on the warrants and for metham-
phetamine possession. The trooper cited the girl for felony
attempt to elude and driving without a license and released
her to her parents. Police also allowed a friend to take the
dog she had.
State police also reported the license plates on the
Suburban belonged to another vehicle, so the trooper took
the plates for evidence.
Sunday
•Boardman police arrested and released Acedo Ruben
Alvarez, no age or address provided, for driving under the
influence of intoxicants.
•Hermiston police arrested Kelsea Kathryn Marie
Rodriguez, 27, of 1735 N.E. Second St., Hermiston, for the
domestic violence charge of felony fourth-degree assault.
•Hermiston police arrested Javier Roque, 28, of 30570
Highway 730, Apt. 23, Umatilla, for first-degree burglary,
menacing, harassment and third-degree mischief (vandalism).

Eileen Mary Wondra
was born in the Walla Walla
Valley on February 13,
1922. Her graceful spirit
departed for heaven’s gates
on October 13, 2017.
Born to parents Andy
Millar
and
Catherine
McWhirter, Eileen
spent her childhood
on a farm outside
Milton-Freewater.
After graduating
from McLoughlin
Union High School,
she attended busi-
ness school and
worked in Portland,
Oregon.
She
then
returned to the Wondra
valley, and shortly
thereafter, enlisted
her support to the
U.S. Armed Forces
during World War
II as a civil servant
at the Pendleton
Air Base. It was
this that led to her
meeting her future
husband, William
“Bill” Wondra, Sr.
Eileen
and Wondra
Bill were married
October 13, 1942,
in Boise, Idaho. They
returned to Milton-Freewater
and, on a farm less than one
mile from her childhood
home, brought up their three
children, William “Bill”
Wondra Jr., Robert “Bob”
Wondra and Larry Wondra.
While keeping busy raising
three boys, Eileen also
worked for the local Allen’s
Ice Cream Shop, packing
houses and canneries, as well
as J.C. Penney. Her main
job, however, was assisting
with anything needed to
maintain and operate her
and her husband’s nearly
50-acre apple orchard and
homestead.
Her garden was her
prized possession; spending
time in it was one of her
most enjoyed hobbies. She
was proud to have started
her rosebushes, and many
planted in her children’s
gardens, from her own clip-
pings.
An
excellent
cook,
Eileen could often be found
preparing meals and baking
for her family and friends.
Her Thursday afternoons
were always reserved for
lunch and treasured pinochle
games with “the girls.” She
devoted time and energy
to being a member of the
Pleasant View Mother’s
Club earlier in life and the
Senior
Center Board later. A
meticulous seamstress and
quilter, Eileen also excelled
at and enjoyed knitting and
crocheting. Her talents were
always shared with family,
friends, and members of her
church. Refinishing furniture
found at local garage and
estate sales was also one of
her cherished pastimes.
A devout Catholic, Eileen
had an unwavering
faith in God. She
was a longtime
member of the St.
Francis of Assisi
Church. Over the
years, she became
very involved with
the church commu-
nity and assisted
with
numerous
events. She loved to
share her devotion
with those close in
her life.
Eileen
was
predeceased by her
loving
husband,
Bill. Also preceding
her in death were
her parents, Andy
and Katie Millar, as
well as three sisters,
three brothers, and
one grandson.
She is survived
by her children,
son Bill Jr., son
Bob and wife Ruth, and son
Larry married to wife Linda.
Her legacy is also carried on
through numerous
grandchildren,
great-grandchildren,
and
great-great-grandchildren, as
well as nieces and nephews.
The staff at Heritage
Villa lovingly assisted with
her care the last few years
of her life. The family gives
them and everyone else who
cared for and loved Eileen
throughout her life their
greatest gratitude. She was
a charming and humorous
woman who will surely be
missed by all who were
fortunate enough to have
known her.
