October 2017 - EASTERN OREGON PARENT - 13
first time in days, maybe weeks.
Then you notice your stroller get-
ting slightly harder to push, like
when you run over something bad
with your vacuum cleaner and it’s
never quite the same. Your brand-
new stroller has been goathead
murdered! All it takes is for one of
those weedy stickers to puncture
your moderately-priced stroller
wheel and your newfound freedom
and mobility are over. Unless you
bought a $300 jogging stroller, you
need to get ahead of this! Take
your stroller to Les Schwab and
replace the tires it came with, with
something in the $50 range. The
men and women at Les Schwab will
know exactly what you’re talking
about.
Buttons are not your friends
Your baby will need to be
changed a lot and unfortunately
those changes aren’t exclusively
during business hours. For this rea-
son I implore you: get zip-up paja-
mas — not buttons. Nobody wants
to fasten a dozen snaps at 2 a.m.
… and 3:00 and 4:00 … you get the
point. Zippers over snaps!
P SYCHOLOGICAL S ERVICES
Drunk
chickening
There
will come
a moment
– many
moments
– when
you place
your baby
gently on
your shoul-
der to burp or rest and she begins
banging her face into your collar
bone like a drunk chicken pecking
for seeds. Drunk chickening is not
the official term for this but you’ll
understand when when it happens.
Feed your baby. This means feed
your baby. Do it now. Other signs
your baby might be hungry include
OF
putting her hands in her mouth and
screaming bloody murder.
Want to learn more about life
after baby? The Pendleton Pub-
lic Library is hosting a new par-
ent resource night Oct. 12 from 6
to 8 p.m. This free event will be
geared toward those expecting and
those with infants younger than
12 months old. The library will be
distributing baby resources such
as those mentioned in the “Buy
or else” section above, so be sure
to attend for your chance to take
home some great baby swag.
