TUESDAY
7:59 a.m. - Theft was reported at Seventh Street and
Yerxa, Umatilla.
8:52 p.m. - A woman reported a package taken from her
residence, at Southwest Second Street, Pendleton.
10:49 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a
report of possible animal abuse on Diagonal Road, Hermiston.
11:29 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received
a report of possible elder abuse on Wilson Lane, Irrigon. The
caller said her father and brother are the victims.
1:57 p.m. - Umatilla police took a report for stolen
medication.
2:35 p.m. - Residents of Froberg Lane, Irrigon, reported
they lent a pickup to a friend to pick up scrap metal from Pilot
Rock but he hasn’t returned the vehicle. The caller said the
man has done this before.
3:05 p.m. - A phone was reported stolen to the Umatilla
police.
3:15 p.m. - A woman reported her parents’ oven was on fire
at their residence on Southeast Third Street, Irrigon, and that
everyone was out of the house. The Irrigon Fire Department
responded.
4:40 p.m. - Three Hispanic males were reported to be
switching license plates on a white vehicle on South Highway
395, Hermiston.
6:28 p.m. - A fight was reported at West Ridgeway Avenue,
Hermiston.
8:05 p.m. - A resident of Highway 730, Umatilla, reported
the theft of a game camera. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s
Office took a report.
8:42 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received
a call from the San Mateo County, Calif., Sheriff’s Office
reporting a local man had failed to return from a hunting trip to
the Copple Butte Trail area near Heppner. His hunting partner
has returned home, but he has not.
9:17 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office
investigated a report of an armed subject on Agnew Road,
Hermiston.
10:47 p.m. - A man was causing a disturbance at North
First Street, Hermiston.
WEDNESDAY
1:55 a.m. - Two people could be heard screaming from
the levee area at Bedford Bridge, Southwest 18th Street,
Pendleton.
5:10 a.m. - A woman was assaulted at Dave’s Chevron
12th Street Food Mart, 220 S.W. 12th St., Pendleton.
ARRESTS, CITATIONS
•Morrow County Sheriff’s Office arrested Saul Nathaniel
Erickson, 19, address not provided, for first-degree theft and
first-degree burglary.
•Hermiston police arrested Efren Castro Aguilar, 36,
address not provided, for possession of methamphetamine,
resisting arrest, contempt of court and on two misdemeanor
failure to appear warrants.
•Joel Ernesto Rodriguez, 31, address not provided, was
arrested by the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office on charges of
first-degree assault and unlawful use of weapon, both felonies,
and on misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault and
menacing.

Shari Kay Schneider
Alford was born on
November 16, 1972, in
Hermiston, Oregon, to
parents Dennis and Shari L.
Moyer Schneider. She passed
away at home on September
2, 2017, in Hermiston,
Oregon, at the age of 44
years.
Shari
was
raised and attended
schools in Herm-
iston,
Oregon,
graduating in the
class of 1991. She
then attended Blue
Mountain Commu-
nity College where
she earned her
degree as a dental
assistant.
Alford
Shari was a
member of the
Anchor Point Church and was
involved in Job’s Daughters
where she was a past Honor
Queen. She enjoyed the
mountains, camping, playing
electronic games, staying in
touch with everyone through
her computer, trips to the
ocean and most of all cher-
ished time with her family
and friends.
She is survived by her son
Wyatt Alford, Ukiah, Ore.;
father Dennis Schneider,
Umatilla, Ore.; sister Amy
Allstott (Mark), Kennewick,
Wash.;
brother
Stacey
Schneider (Amy), Kenne-
wick, Wash.; grandmother

Joseph Clayton Watkins,
52, of Pendleton, Ore.,
passed away September 2,
2017. A Celebration of Life
will be held at Pendleton
Pioneer Chapel on Monday,
Sept. 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
with a reception to follow at
First Christian Church, 215
N. Main St., Pendleton, Ore.
Joe was born on April 7,
1965, in Portland, Ore., to
parents Carl Leroy Watkins
and Sammie Lyons Watkins.
He met the love of his life
Kim Ensworth in 1982 while
attending Sherman High
School in Moro, Ore. They
graduated together with the
Class of 1983. Then they
attended Blue Mountain
Community College, Pend-
leton, Ore., together. Joe
graduated from BMCC with
associate’s degrees in both
diesel mechanics and auto
mechanics. Joe and Kim were
married in Las Vegas, Nev.,
January 1, 1988. He was the
proud father of two children,
Jacob Matthew Watkins and
Sarah Jean Watkins.
He worked for Mont-
gomery Ward while still
attending college until they
closed in Pendleton. He then
went to work for Pioneer
Implements for a short time.
He worked as a mechanic for
Twig Zeigler Transmission
for 12 years. After that he
worked for Oregon Depart-
ment of Transportation for
the last 19 years as part of the
“Bridge Crew.”
He belonged to the
Grande Ronde Muzzle
Loaders and went to many
rendezvous, as “Smokn
Joe!” Joe was the ultimate
handyman; he could make
anything happen. Joe was a
true mentor, always heavily
involved in his kids and
including any neighborhood
kids’ activities. He became a
soccer, baseball and football
coach, Boy Scout leader, 4-H
leader, horse wrangler and
sheep and pig herder, doing
whatever needed to be done.
Joe
was
an
avid
outdoorsman, which he
learned from his dad. He was
very passionate about the art
of hunting and fishing. He
handed down this love to his
family and friends. His sense
of family and community
was strong and will be missed
by many organizations.
Survivors include wife
Kim Ensworth Watkins, son
Jacob Matthew Watkins and
daughter Sarah Jean Watkins,
all of Pendleton; sister Danita
(Kerry) Thamert of Elgin,
Ore..; mother-in-law Esther
Ensworth; brothers-in-law
Dave, Brad, Rich and Jimmy
Ensworth;
sisters-in-law
Ruth, Renee, Michelle, Tracy
and Megan; and numerous
aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joe was proceeded in death
by his father Carl, mother
Sammie and father-in-law
Robert “Bob” Ensworth.
In lieu of flowers the
family requests that you
donate to your local youth
organizations, i.e.: 4-H,
FFA, Boy Scouts and Buck
Boosters.
