MONDAY
7:20 a.m. - Vandals in Milton-Freewater spray-
painted gang-related graffi ti on a house and several cars
on the 1200 block of Chestnut Street.
7:54 a.m. - Umatilla police took a report of graffi ti
on Sonesta Court, and about three hours later took
another at Umatilla Baptist Church, 146 Columbia Blvd.,
Umatilla.
10:34 a.m. - A Hermiston woman on East Dogwood
Avenue told police her neighbor constantly harasses
her. She said her property manager told her to fi le a
complaint with police.
12:11 p.m. - A male yelled and swore at a female at
Afl ac, 256 E. Hurlburt Ave, Hermiston.
2:11 p.m. - A woman on Southwest Isaac Avenue,
Pendleton, reported a male and female were in her yard
“having a domestic” in front of the two small children
with them.
2:24 p.m. - A Hermiston resident told police his
parents told him they were switching his vehicle from
their name to his name, but they never did. However,
they stole his vehicle from the U.S. Cellular parking lot,
650 N. First St., and won’t let him have the title.
2:29 p.m. - Staff at Zeigler Transmission & Auto
Repair Inc., 3401 Westgate Drive, Pendleton, reported
telephonic harassment. Then a manager at 8:06 p.m.,
Kind Leaf Pendleton, 1733 S.W. Court Ave., also
reported a harassing call.
3:35 p.m. - Multiple agencies responded to a grass
fi re threatening a house at 81634 Lind Road, Hermiston.
4:55 p.m. - An Irrigon man on Southeast Thomas
Avenue told law enforcement the goat causing problems
returned and ate all the trees on the property. He said if
a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy does not respond he
will kill the goat. A deputy did not fi nd the animal culprit.
7:07 p.m. - Morrow County Sheriff’s Offi ce responded
to Toms Camp Road, Boardman, for a teenager who
barricaded himself into his father’s shop and shut off the
water. Deputies talked to both parties at the scene.
7:54 p.m. - A caller reported vandalism to a car on the
10 block of Southeast 11th Avenue, Milton-Freewater.
9:28 p.m. - A deer struck the rear of a Morrow County
sheriff’s deputy’s car at Bunker Hill Lane and Highway
74, Heppner.
10:49 p.m. - Hermiston police received a report of a
fi ght at Walmart, 1350 N. First St., Hermiston.
ARRESTS, CITATIONS
•Pendleton police arrested Tanner Scott Nicoson,
24, of 1203 S.W. 23rd St., Pendleton, for identity theft,
second-degree forgery and credit card fraud.
•Pendleton police arrested Lorne K. Wicks, 63, of
British Columbia, for driving under the infl uence of
intoxicants.

Helen was a
member of the First
Christian Church
in
Pendleton.
She served as a
deaconess
and
Sunday
school
teacher in the
church for many
years. She was also a charter
member of the area social
club TAT (Tuesday at Two).
Helen was preceded in
death by her husband of 64
years, Robert, in 2006. She is
survived by her son Douglas
of Pendleton and daughter
Elizabeth (Marsha) Hart of
California; four grandchil-
dren from her son Douglas:
Kimberlee, Scott, Haylee
and William; and several
great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside
service will be held at Olney
Cemetery Friday morning
August 25, 2017, at 10:30
a.m.

Helen Mae Koebcke was
born September 28, 1922, in a
farmhouse on Koebcke Road,
south and west of Helix,
Ore. She was the only child
of W.E. (Will) Koebcke and
Eva Lou (O’Harra) Koebcke.
She attended school in Helix
and graduated from Griswold
High School in
1939. She continued
her
education
at Oregon State
College in Corvallis.
While at Oregon
State she met and
then later married
Robert
Harper
December 31, 1941.
Her husband Robert
left the next day to
artillery school at Harper
Fort Benning, Ga.
Robert was sent
to Honolulu, Hawaii, after
the attack on Pear Harbor
December 7, 1941. Helen
later joined him and they lived
in Honolulu until after WWII.
Upon return they continued
their education at Oregon
State, both graduating in 1948
— Robert in dairy science and
Helen in secretarial science.
Robert and Helen lived
briefl y in Portland, Ore.,
where Robert worked for
Sunshine Dairy. Their son
Doug was born during this
time. In the summer of 1950
Robert and Helen moved to
the farm southwest of Helix
and together operated and
managed the dryland wheat
farm founded in the early
1900s by Helen’s grandfather
Ludwig Koebcke.
In 1980 Helen’s husband
Robert was elected to the
Oregon Dist. 57 House
