Rodeo moves to new home for 30th year
T
he Farm-City Pro Ro-
deo’s original home in
the heart of Hermiston
may be gone, but the event
lives on in a larger arena at
the Eastern Oregon Trade
and Event Center.
The arena features about
2,500 more seats for specta-
tors.
This year’s rodeo, Aug. 9
through 12, will be the 30th
for the event started by cow-
boys for cowboys.
The new rodeo arena is
part of the new fairgrounds
and event center at 1705 E.
Airport Road, just off High-
way 395 on the southeastern
edge of Hermiston.
Tickets are still avail-
able and can be purchased at
several locations around the
county, by calling the Farm-
City Pro Rodeo box office

Ticket prices start at $17
for general admission seating,
$5 for children on Wednes-
day for Family Night, and
$20 for reserved seating. For
the Thursday, Aug. 10, event,
$10 tickets are available for
military service members,
veterans and their families.
There is also a $5 fee
for parking on the EOTEC
grounds, except for, Aug. 9,
when parking is free.
What: Four days of rodeo action with some of the country’s best
cowboys and cowgirls.
Where: Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center, 1705 E Airport
Road, Hermiston. If you’re heading south on Highway 395 from
Hermiston, don’t turn down the similarly-named Airport Way, which
dead-ends into the Hermiston Municipal Airport. Instead, go past the
airport and take a left on East Airport Road next to the Hermiston Vet-
erinary Clinic. If you’re heading north from Pendleton, you’ll want to
turn right on East Airport Road just after you pass the Best Western.
When: Aug. 9-12, 2017. Slack performances for timed events
start at 2 p.m. daily and after the rodeo Wednesday through Friday;
6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday is Bullfighters Only; 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday through Friday, mutton bustin’, after mutton bustin’ on
Thursday is calf dressing as part of youth and ag night; The main
performance starts at 7:45 p.m. each night. Mutton bustin’ takes place
with the main performance on Saturday night, staring at 7:45.
