It’s a bird, it’s a plane,
it’s a drone!
PENDLETON — Pendleton Parks
& Rec is partnering with Pendleton
Props RC Club to introduce local
youth to the fun of radio-controlled
planes and quadcopters (a.k.a.
drones)! On Saturday, Aug. 5 from
9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Grecian
Heights Park kids can learn about
how to design, build and fly RC air-
craft. In this introductory workshop,
students will build their own non-
powered aircraft using foam board
and hot glue, then launched with a
catapult. Prizes will be awarded and
RC demonstrations given.
Already flying? Bring your RC
aircraft for repair and flight tips.
Parents are encouraged to partici-
pate. Class fee for students
is $20; please register by

National Night Out
offers county-wide fun
UMATILLA COUNTY — Now in its
34th year, National Night Out brings
together local police departments
and community sponsors
hosting family activities
designed to get residents
outside having fun. This year’s
Echo’s George Park will be the site
of free meals and door prizes. In
Hermiston, the winner of a treasure
hunt will get a neighborhood block
party. Get off the couch and bring
your family out for this great get-
together!
event is on Tuesday, Aug. 1, from
6 to 8 p.m. and several towns are
participating. In Pendleton, come
down to the Pendleton
Aquatic Center for

SAGE Saturdays
BOARDMAN — Feel like a Sat-
