Wagoner, Shafer service planned
TUESDAY
PENDLETON — An inurnment service for Merlin (Bud)
Wagoner, his wife Dorothy Shafer Wagoner and Dorothy’s
mother Doris Graham Shafer will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.
at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton. The Wagoners’ family is
bringing their loved ones home to Pendleton from Montana,
where they lived for many years, on their request.
Friends of the Wagoners and Mrs. Shafer are encouraged
to attend.
5:52 a.m. - Heppner fire crews responded to a tree on fire at
the Morrow County Fairgrounds, 74473 Highway 74.
6:49 a.m. - A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy was advised
of a coyote that had been trapped near Paul Smith Road and
Canal Lane, Boardman. The caller asked the deputy to check on
the animal to see if it needed to be put down. The deputy was
unable to find the coyote or the trap.
7:48 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office was called to
a school bus vs. car accident at Southeast Port Drive and South
Highway 395, Hermiston. There were no injuries reported.
10:59 a.m. - A resident of North Franklin Street, Weston,
reported the theft of checks.
1:31 p.m. - A boy’s bicycle was stolen from the 700 block of
Northwest First Avenue, Milton-Freewater.
1:50 p.m. - A resident of Washington Street, Umatilla,
reported the theft of a four-wheeler from his property. Umatilla
police took a theft report.
4:17 p.m. - A heavily intoxicated man was pulled from the
Umatilla River near Taco Time Falls, on Southwest Court
Avenue, Pendleton. An ambulance was called because he had
cuts on his body and was in and out of consciousness.
5:23 p.m. - Computers and cameras were reported damaged
in the first block of Northwest Eighth Avenue, Milton-Freewater.
6 p.m. - Theft was reported at Bonney’s Ag & Auto Repair,
81600 N. Highway 395, Hermiston. Umatilla County sheriff’s
deputies also took a report at 6:03 p.m. from a resident of
Northwest Geer Road, Hermiston, for identity theft.
6:18 p.m. - Two bags of returnable soda cans were stolen
from the bed of a pickup in the 100 block of Northeast 15th
Avenue, Milton-Freewater.
8:19 p.m. - Pilot Rock police were called to check on a man
crawling on the ground near the can return machine at Pilot
Rock Market, 168 N.W. Birch St.
8:37 p.m. - The manager of Mac’s Bar & Grill, 1400 S.W.
Dorion Ave., Pendleton, reported possible fraud.
8:47 p.m. - Umatilla County sheriff’s deputies received an
anonymous report of shots fired in the vicinity of Northeast Moe
Lane and East Hooker Road, Hermiston.
9:26 p.m. - Flames were reported in front of Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, Athena.
11:33 p.m. - A vehicle was reported stolen from a residence
on Southwest Fourth Street, Pendleton.

Police shows a man strolling down a street in Hollis, Maine, who police said
was wearing a clown mask with a machete taped to his amputated arm. Police
said the man, Corey Berry, 31, of Hollis, was arrested and charged with criminal
threatening. He was released after posting bail.

HOLLIS, Maine (AP)
— A man is accused of
drunkenly strolling down
a Maine road wearing a
black-hooded
sweatshirt
and a clown mask and
brandishing a machete taped
to where his arm had been
amputated.
Maine State Police say
31-year-old Corey Berry,
of Hollis, was arrested
Tuesday and charged with
criminal threatening. He
was released after posting
$200 bail.
Police say Berry was
first spotted in Hollis but
then fled into the woods.
He was taken into custody
after re-emerging in Water-
boro. Police say Berry was
intoxicated but cooperative.
He told officers that he was
copying previous clown
sightings as a prank.
