Chuckwagon celebrates 47th
anniversary with specials
HERMISTON — Chuckwagon Cafe
owner Cathy Stolz is offering “crazy”
specials July 24-29 to commemorate the
restaurant’s 47th anniversary.
In addition, there will be surprise
drawings and on-the-spot anniversary
announcements, she said. The cafe
is located at 81027 N. Highway 395,
Hermiston.
“When you hear the dinner bell clanging,
you’ll know someone in the room is about
to win big,” Stolz said, referring to the
large, iron triangle hanging on the wall.
Established in 1970, the Chuckwagon
Cafe has been at its current location since
1979. Prior to that it operated from the
building that now houses The Nickel. The
cafe’s first location, which burned in 1972,
was a small drive-in/diner on Highway 395
where Motel 6 now resides.
The cafe has supported local fundraising
projects throughout the years. In addition to
actively participating in Hermiston’s annual
Community Fellowship Dinners each
Thanksgiving and Christmas, Stolz is proud
of honoring veterans each year on Veterans
Day with a free SOS lunch.
