OBITUARIES
MONDAY
6:59 a.m. - A vehicle was reported stolen from a home on
Southwest Perkins Avenue, Pendleton. A second vehicle was
reported stolen at 8:37 a.m. from Suttle Care and Retirement,
1601 S.W. 24th Street, Pendleton.
8:27 a.m. - An Athena woman driving eastbound on Highway
224 outside Ukiah swerved to avoid a deer in the road and lost
traction on new asphalt, skidding across the oncoming lane and
hitting a guard rail. She was uninjured and able to drive her car
from the scene. Oregon State Police assisted.
8:47 a.m. - An unlocked car was entered during the night in
the 1000 block of Walnut Street, Milton-Freewater, and items
were taken.
9:24 a.m. - A resident of Southwest Third Street, Irrigon, told a
Morrow County sheriff’s deputy that someone in Morrow County
was using his Social Security number.
9:33 a.m. - Employee theft was reported by staff at Keystone
RV, 4635 McKennon Road, Pendleton.
10:45 a.m. - Two older men wearing suits and driving a gold
four-door car on Southeast Clover Court, Irrigon, left skid marks
on the road and ran over a bicycle. A Morrow County sheriff’s
deputy took a report.
10:55 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office was called to
investigate a man kicking a maroon four-door sedan at Baldwin
Lane and Canal Road, Hermiston.
10:56 a.m. - A car prowl was reported at a rental property on
Southwest Goodwin Avenue, Pendleton.
12:28 p.m. - A resident of Southwest Douglas Drive,
Pendleton, reported a theft to the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office.
1:11 p.m. - Theft was reported at the Pendleton Aquatic
Center, 1800 N.W. Carden Ave.
4:31 p.m. - Pendleton police were called to Stillman Park, 400
S.E. Byers Ave., for a fight and warned the combatants.
4:43 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Department was
called to a residence on Southeast 11th Street, Irrigon, after a
man called and said his ex-girlfriend wouldn’t give him the keys to
his car, and then threw rocks at him and the car.
5:02 p.m. - A patron of New York Richie’s, 45 S.E. Emigrant
Ave., Pendleton, reported a car prowl.
5:32 p.m. - A vehicle was reported stolen from a residence on
North Washington Street, Weston.
8:19 p.m. - Pendleton Pupcakes, 148 S. Main St., Pendleton,
reported a theft from the business.
8:20 p.m. - A woman called the Morrow County Sheriff’s
Department from the Sub Zero Motel, 100 S. First St., Irrigon,
to report her trailer and storage sheds had been broken into
sometime during the night.
8:50 p.m. - A Heppner man reported four men wearing
camouflage and carrying guns were in his back yard on North
Main Street, but Morrow County sheriff’s deputies were unable
to locate anyone and asked Community Counseling Services to
check in with the man in the morning.
11:25 p.m. - Lights were reported smashed in the 300 block of
Raspberry Loop, Milton-Freewater.
ARRESTS, CITATIONS
•The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Randall
Lee Case, 59, address not provided, for possession of
methamphetamine.
•Pendleton police arrested Kevin Shawn Chamberlain, 27,
address not provided, for possession of methamphetamine and
on a felony parole/LSA violation.
•Russ McEntire, 40, Pendleton, was cited and released by
Pendleton police for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
IN UNIFORM
U.S. Air Force Airman James C. Putman graduated
from basic military training at Joint Base San Anto-
nio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
Putman completed an intensive, eight-week program
that included training in military discipline and studies,
Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare
principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four
credits toward an associate in applied science degree
through the Community College of the Air Force.
Putman is the son of Sandra N. Pointer, and brother of
Weston J. Putman and Kelsi T. Putman, all of Lexington. He
is a 2014 graduate of Heppner Junior Senior High School.

HERMISTON — A
Hermiston teen is in jail
on charges of assault after
stabbing his father during
an argument.
Deputies from the
Umatilla County Sheriff’s
Office responded to the
3100 block of Cecil Street
Monday at about 4:20 p.m.
According to a news release
from the department, they
found that Brian Bush, 52,
and his 16-year-old son had
gotten into an argument that
became physical and Bush
had suffered a knife wound
to his side.
Brian Bush was taken
to Good Shepherd Medical
Center for treatment and
his son was taken into
police custody and charged
with second degree assault.
MEDFORD (AP) —
An Oregon man convicted
of forcing a woman into
prostitution has been
sentenced to more than 11
years in prison.
The Herald and News
reported Tuesday that
28-year-old Javieon Drum
of Klamath Falls pleaded
no contest to trafficking in
persons and coercion.
Police arrested Drum
and 26-year-old Ahmanda
Parke in November while
investigating a human
trafficking ring with
connections in Oregon,
Washington and Wyoming.
Prosecutors said the
couple forced a woman
into prostitution in
Medford, threatening to
hold her child hostage if
she didn’t work.
Attorney blames
drug test results on
‘everything’ bagel
PORTLAND (AP)
— An attorney for a man
who pleaded guilty to a
conspiracy charge in the
takeover of an Oregon
wildlife refuge says his
client tested positive for
morphine because he ate
an “everything” bagel with
poppy seeds.
The Oregonian/Oregon
Lives reported Monday
that a federal judge in
Portland has ordered Jason
Blomgren to avoid poppy
seeds in addition to drugs.
Blomgren took a plea
deal for his role in the
armed occupation of the
Malheur National Wildlife
Refuge last year and is
expected to be sentenced to
probation next month.
He had been subpoenaed
by the government to testify
in a trial against Ammon
Bundy and other leaders of
the refuge occupation, but
was not called as a witness.
Blomgren now says
he will eat egg whites for
breakfast.

Gregory
was
born October 7, 1942, in Pend-
leton, Oregon, to Kenneth
“Tuck” and Jean (Cronin)
Hodgen. He attended schools
in Pendleton and graduated
from Pendleton High School.
He served in the U.S. Army
during the Cold War. He also
served in Orleans, France.
After
returning
to
Pendleton, he attended
Blue Mountain Community
College where he earned
an associate’s degree in law
enforcement. He married
Candy Cook. They had two
daughters and later divorced.
On December 31, 1998, he
married Doris Owens.
He worked for the
Umatilla County Sheriff’s
Office, security at OHSU,
Tektronix in Beaverton,
Eastern Oregon Correctional
Institution and the Mult-
nomah County Sheriff’s
Office. He retired in 2003 and
moved back to Pendleton.
For ten years, he volunteered
with the Neighborhood
Watch program. Greg was
awarded the Meritorious
Achievement Award by
the Oregon State Sheriff’s
Association in June 2007. He
was also awarded Volunteer
of the Year from the Oregon
