Festival brews up craft beer and cider
East Oregonian
Craft beer and cider tasting, as
well as musical entertainment, are
featured during this weekend’s
Brews by the Blues Festival in
Milton-Freewater.
In its third year, the event
kicks off Friday from 3-9 p.m. at
the Milton-Freewater Jr. Show
Grounds, 84575 Highway 11,
located behind Bordertown Feed
& Supply. The activities continue
Saturday from 1-9 p.m.
Pre-sale ticket options include
$20 day passes (which are good
for one day and includes a Brews
by the Blues glass and five tokens
for tasting). Day passes bought at
the gate are $25 each day. A second
day admission is $15 (must have
glass from initial entry). Additional
tokens can be purchased for $1 each
— tastings are 1-3 tokens each.
For a VIP experience, buy a
$50 pass in advance. They are
good for both days and include an
event glass, eight tokens for tast-
ings, brew pairings with gourmet
chocolates and cheese, access to
the VIP Pavilion and special VIP
parking and restroom facilities. It
also features access to an outdoor
patio area to enjoy a brew or two,
while listening to music.

entry with adult supervision. It’s
free for kids under 13. The fee for

Laht Neppur Brewing Co. Also,
a variety of gourmet food trucks
will be on hand for people to make
purchases.
Musical entertainment includes
Iron Horse, Iguana Hat, the Coyote
Kings, JP Band, the Shop Singers,
Joker and the FrogHollow Band.

group plans to document and share
the interesting and diverse history
of Ukiah, Dale, Granite and the
surrounding areas.
The North Fork John Day
Historical Society is sponsoring
“A Time to Remember” event
Friday at noon at the Ukiah Senior
Center, 100 W. Despain St. The
public is invited to share stories,
photos and memorabilia about
area life. In addition, people are
welcome to attend the regular
senior center lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Three-day pow wow
celebrates American
Indian history, culture
WALLOWA — The Tamkaliks
Pow Wow highlights the history
and culture of American Indians
through song, dance, ceremony
and food.
The public is invited to the
event, which kicks off Friday from
1-4 p.m. at the Homeland Project’s
Office, 209 E. Second St.,
Wallowa. It features cattail basket
weaving and beading instructed
(supplies provided). The first
dance roll call is Friday evening
under the dance arbor at 7 p.m.
followed by social dancing with
emcees Thomas Morning Owl and
Fred Hill.
The event continues all day
Saturday, including a parade at
9 a.m., followed by a ceremony
honoring the Women Warriors
of the 1877 Nez Perce War. The
dance roll calls are at 1 p.m. and
7 p.m. Sunday’s activities include
Washat services at 9 a.m. at the
new longhouse, followed by a
Friendship Feast at noon and the
final dance roll call at 2 p.m.

Strike out against
domestic violence
HERMISTON — The public
is invited to roll a strike during a
bowling event to raise money for a
local nonprofit organization.
In its fifth year, the Domestic
Violence Services Bowl-A-Thon
is Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at
Desert Lanes, 1545 N. First St.,
Hermiston. The cost is $30 per
bowler or $120 for a team of four.
The fee includes three games
and shoe rental. It’s open to all
ages, and prizes will be given. In
addition, raffle tickets are $1 each
or six for $5 for some great prizes.
The annual fundraiser helps
support the organization’s efforts
in giving victims of stalking
and domestic, dating and sexual
violence the support and resources
to become survivors.

HERMISTON — An annual
barbecue and pool party offers a
splashing good time this weekend
in Hermiston.
The public is invited to bring a
swimsuit, sunscreen and towel and
join the fun, while learning more
about The Arc Umatilla County.
The event is Saturday from 6:30-9
p.m. at the Hermiston Family
Aquatic Center, 879 W. Elm Ave.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and
water will be served.
The Arc Umatilla County
is a nonprofit organization that
advocates for the rights of children
and adults with intellectual and
developmental disabilities. They
offer activities to connect families
and community members and
focus on improving services and
opportunities for people with
disabilities.
