Authorities: Wanted man
fled with underage girl
KLAMATH FALLS (AP) — An
Oregon man wanted for beating his
underage girlfriend and shooting
another man while looking for her
is believed to have run off with
the girl after locating her at a safe
house in Washington state.
The Herald and News reported
Thursday the 17-year-old girl is
believed to have voluntarily left
the safe house on Saturday with
35-year-old Charles Irwin Jackson.
Jackson is accused of beating
the girl at their residence in Agency
Lake then shooting a neighbor in
the leg while searching for her after
she escaped.
He is being sought on suspicion
of attempted murder, first-degree
assault, second-degree assault and
third-degree rape.
He and the girl are believed to be
riding in a black 1998 GMC pickup
truck. Authorities say Jackson has a
history of being armed and eluding
police.
Police searching for
mother of missing toddler
ASHLAND (AP) — Oregon
authorities are looking for a woman
who they believe kidnapped her
toddler daughter.
The Mail Tribune reports the girl
was taken from her father’s home
in Ashland late Tuesday or early
Wednesday.
An Ashland police Facebook post
says 43-year-old Shelley Dahlstrom
is wanted for custodial interference,
first-degree burglary and contempt
of court. Chief Tighe O’Meara says
Dahlstrom does not have any parental
rights.
She is believed to be driving a red
1997 Ford Explorer with license plate
number OR 805 FNY.
Corrections deputy misled
chief about relationship
SALEM (AP) — An internal
investigation carried out by the
Oregon Department of Corrections has
found that a former administrator lied
to the agency chief when confronted
last year about a sexual relationship
with another employee.
Kim Brockamp abruptly quit
her post as deputy director of the
Department of Corrections last fall,
citing “work-life balance” concerns,
The Oregonian/OregonLive reported.
She quit shortly after John Myrick, a
former prison administrator, accused
her of inappropriately intervening
in disciplinary decisions, engaging
in a sexual relationship with another
employee and using her position to
influence promotion decisions.
The agency’s Director of Human
Resources John Nees carried out
the investigation and found no
evidence of the discipline and
promotion allegations, but did find
that Brockamp lied about a sexual
relationship with an employee.
Nees said he relied on interviews
with Brockamp and other
administrators, as well as agency
records in drawing his conclusions.
The agency oversees 14,500
inmates at 14 institutions.
Brockamp was hired in March as a
manager at the Oregon Department of
Education.
Woman sentenced to prison
for baseball bat attack
KLAMATH FALLS (AP) — A
25-year-old woman accused of
striking another woman with a
baseball bat has been sentenced to
2.5 years in prison after pleading no
contest to attempted assault.
Aliechia Lyn Marie Stout was
arrested nearly two months ago in
Klamath Falls. Police said Stout
struck the victim with the bat and
a closed fist during a dispute about
noise levels from a stereo.
The Herald and News reports the
victim suffered a laceration on her
head.
Stout lives just across the state
line in Macdoel, California. Before
accepting a plea deal, she faced an
assault charge that carried a minimum
sentence of nearly six years in prison.
