Sheriff’s office nets
five DUII arrests over
Memorial Day weekend
East Oregonian
The Umatilla County
Sheriff’s Office reported
deputies worked extra
patrols during the Memorial
Day Weekend and made
five arrests for driving under
the influence of intoxicants.
Deputies also cited and
warned 29 more drivers for
traffic violations. Sheriff’s
Sgt. Joshua Roberts in a
written statement called the
effort “a great success.”
The following break-
down of DUII arrests is
from the sheriff’s office:
•Roberts on Friday at
about 8:15 p.m. stopped
Alfredo Garcia-Preciado,
25, of Hermiston, for
speeding on Powerline
Road outside Hermiston.
Garcia-Preciado’s blood-al-
cohol level was .12 percent,
over the .08 percent legal
limit in Oregon.
•Deputy Nathan Rankin
a little after midnight
Saturday stopped Gail
Susan Yi, 35, of Hermiston,
for failing to drive within
her lane and running a stop
sign. Her blood-alcohol
level was .13 percent.
•Roberts at about 9:15
p.m. Saturday drove an
unmarked car northbound
on Highway 395 out of
Hermiston when a car
passed going about 90
mph. That led to a stop
and the arrest of Jacob Joe
Martinez, 32, of Hermiston,
whose blood-alcohol level
was .14 percent.
•About two hours later,
deputy Trevor Limburg
responded to the 1500 block
of North Ott Road outside
of Hermiston to help city
police find a driver that was
in a hit-and-run crash at
the edge of the city limits.
Officers found the suspect,
Jesse Luis Lopez, 25, of
Hermiston, passed out
behind the steering wheel
of his vehicle. Limburg
arrested him for DUII and
misdemeanor hit and run.
His blood-alcohol level was
.14 percent.
•Limburg at about 11:15
p.m. Sunday was patrolling
Highway 395 near Umatilla
and saw a vehicle fail
to drive within its lane.
Limburg made the stop and
arrested Ricardo Santo-
Ramirez, 36, of Bremerton,
Washington. His blood-al-
cohol level was .14 percent.
Roberts stated a grant
from the Oregon State
Sheriff’s
Association
provided the funds for the
extra patrols, which were
part of a nationwide effort
to get impaired drivers off
the streets.
College Place offender tries to
flee police, ends up behind bars
East Oregonian
A College Place man
who reportedly made a
run from police ended up
behind bars.
Joshua Ray McIntosh,
26, now faces several
charges, according to a
written statement from
Milton-Freewater
Police
Chief Doug Boedigheimer.
The chief stated that a
Milton-Freewater
police
detective
on Tuesday
received a request from
Walla Walla police to help
find McIntosh at a residence
on Tum a Lum Road
near Birch Creek Road
east of Milton-Freewater.
McIntosh was driving a
newer silver Nissan Altima,
according to the report.
The detective followed
the car with its two
occupants when it left the
home. Around 4:20 p.m,
according to Boedigheimer,
the Nissan’s operation
become erratic and reckless.
The detective turned on
his police car’s emergency
lights and sirens to stop the
Nissan, but the driver took
off.
Police from Milton-Free-
water responded to the area
of Spofford and Cemetery
roads outside Milton-Free-
water to assist. The pursuit
entered the city limits and
the Nissan stopped on the
100 block of Southwest
First Avenue, Boedigheimer
reported, and the suspects
fled on foot.
Walla Walla police
arrived with a dog, which
helped locate McIntosh.
Officers arrested McIn-
tosh for felony attempting
to elude in a vehicle; misde-
meanor attempting to elude
on foot; reckless driving;
recklessly
endangering
another person; and viola-
tion of a restraining order.
Police booked him into the
Umatilla County Jail, Pend-
leton, where he also awaits
extradition to Washington.
