FRIDAY
8:43 a.m. - Hermiston police received a report of a female in a
white sweater, light brown pants and a backpack who walked in
and out of traffic on East Main Street while screaming and yelling
at herself and stopping cars.
8:50 a.m. - A man asked to speak to a Hermiston officer about
someone stealing his identity.
9:40 a.m. - Hermiston police looked for an older Caucasian
woman wearing a sweatshirt and jeans walking around
Southwest Third Street and West Locust Avenue while yelling
racial slurs.
12:21 p.m. - A resident of Umatilla RV Park, 1501 Sixth St.,
Umatilla, wanted to file a complaint against the park’s manager for
harassment.
2:59 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office took a report
of possible animal neglect on Smith Lane, Pendleton.
7:30 p.m. - A Hermiston-area man reported his wife was
assaulting him and trying to stop him from calling 9-1-1.
7:49 p.m. - Umatilla County dispatchers advised law enforce-
ment to be on the lookout for a black Dodge Dart with people
hanging out the sunroof while traveling on South Edwards Road
near Walchli Lane, Hermiston.
SATURDAY
8:17 p.m. - A caller at Oxbow Trail No. 2 on West Elm
Extension and Northwest 11th Street, Hermiston, told police
someone broke the back and side windows to his vehicle.
10:19 a.m. - Someone egged a house on Northwest Dusk
Drive, Hermiston.
SUNDAY
12:41 a.m. - Law enforcement in the Hermiston area received
a report of a fight involving 15-20 people at a parking lot.
8:24 p.m. - Hermiston police responded to a call about
homeless people on East Main Street stealing electricity.
8:51 p.m. - Residents on West Cody Avenue, Hermiston,
complained to police about a large party at a duplex and people
leaving broken beer bottles in front of several residences.
11:15 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office took a report
of an assault at Rosenburg Lane, Echo.
11:58 p.m. - A Hermiston caller reported a male texted her in
violation of a no stalking order.
MONDAY
2:48 p.m. - A driver needed medical help after she crashed
into a tree at Grant and Milton Cemetery Road, Milton-Freewater.
3:26 p.m. - A Heppner resident reported the theft of money
and pain pills from her home on Northeast Court Street.
4:15 p.m. - Callers at McKay Reservoir, Pendleton, reported
harassment and an assault. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office
also received a report at 6:53 p.m. about people on a boat
disturbing anglers.
6:59 p.m. - A crash on Highway 74 near Ione sent two people
to the hospital. Emergency services in Morrow County responded
to the wreck, and an ambulance took the victims to Pioneer
Memorial Hospital, Heppner.

Kay Louise Reese died
Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the
age of 73 years, at her home
in Mount Hood, Oregon.
She was born December
18, 1943, in Vancouver,
Washington, to Harold and
Geneva (Anderson) Myers.
Kay graduated from Fort
Vancouver
High
School and attended
Washington State
University where
she was a member
of
Alpha
Chi
Omega sorority. She
met her husband,
James B. Reese, in
Seattle, Wash., and
they were married
in
Vancouver,
Wash., on July 8, Reese
1967. They lived in
Costa Mesa, Calif.,
for six years and Hermiston,
Ore., for 39 years, before
moving to Hood River Valley
five years ago.
Kay was a compassionate,
hard-working
woman.
Her family has the fondest
memories of her as a ukulele
playing, Charleston dancing,
Anne
Murray
singing,
avocado eating, daisy loving,
craft and culinary making
sensation. She thrived on her
relationships with friends and
family, and played an integral
role volunteering for schools,
church and community. She
challenged those around her to
keep up and oh, did she know
how to work a room. As with
almost everything, that would
bring a smile to her face. She
made every special occasion
more special, and did a lot
of heavy lifting as a mother,
wife and professional. And
we all cherish that
she and Jim share
a true love, and
would have soon
celebrated 50 years
of marriage in just
five more weeks.
She is survived
by her husband Jim
and four daughters
and their families:

Piper, of Bothell,
Wash.;
Pamela
and John Stevenson, Jack,
Connor, Owen and Tyler,
of Corvallis, Ore.; Andrea
and Rick Streedain, Nils and

Aiden, of Clackamas, Ore.;
and her brother Steve Myers
and his wife Susan of Sun
Valley, Idaho.

ARRESTS, CITATIONS
Friday
•Hermiston police arrested Rigoberto Tena Rosales, 23, of
Hermiston, and Enrique Rios Guadalupe Herrera, 52, of Umatilla,
for second-degree theft, second-degree mischief (vandalism),
unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, and giving false informa-
tion to police. Rosales also faces a count of third-degree theft, and
police arrested the pair on warrants as well.
•Oregon State Police arrested Michael Nolan Jones, 55, of
Weston, for driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol)
and reckless driving. His blood-alcohol level was .18 percent,
according to state police, and the trooper later released Jones to
a relative.
Saturday
•Umatilla police arrested Maxwell Hunter Peterson, 25, no
address provided, for first-degree mischief (vandalism), a class C
felony.
•Pendleton police arrested Wawanee Jo Speedis, 28, of 73750
McKinley Lane, Pendleton, for possession of methamphetamine.
•Oregon State Police arrested Kody Lawrence Rooper, 22, of
Pendleton, for DUII (controlled substances). He also could face
three counts of reckless endangering.
•Oregon State Police arrested Andrue Brock Rendon, 22, of
Pendleton, for DUII (controlled substances). Police later released
him.
Sunday
•Pendleton police cited Lyndsi R. Lewis, 33, of Pendleton, for
DUII.
•Umatilla tribal police arrested Nicholas William Sircin, 32, of
212 N. Water St., Weston, for possession of methamphetamine.
Monday
•Oregon State Police arrested Seth Leamann Sims, 21, of
Boise, for DUII (controlled substances), and later released him at
a Pendleton hotel.

Thursday, May 25, 2017, in Walla Walla. He was born March
6, 1926. Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater

Richard H. Moore, 71, of Walla Walla died Tuesday, May
30, 2017, at his home. He was born Jan. 2, 1946. Munselle-

Betty Ann (Hinkle)
Gillett passed away Sunday
January 22, 2017, in Sedan,
Kansas. She was born to
Chester and Viola Marie
(Hall) Hinkle on June 5,
1936, in Stillwater, Okla-
homa.
Betty was raised in
Guthrie, Oklahoma, where
she attended school and
graduated from Guthrie
High School in May 1955.
On June 28, 1955, she
married Robert (Bob) Gillett
in Wenatchee, Washington.
To this union came five
children: Barney, Carolyn,
Tamara, Brenda and Neoma.
The family moved to a
farm in Irrigon in March
1975. Betty enjoyed her
vegetable
and
flower
gardens, reading, jigsaw
puzzles, games, traveling,
cooking for and being with
her family. She also enjoyed
volunteering for whatever
job needed to be done.
Betty was a member of
and a Sunday School teacher
at Columbia View Commu-
nity Church for many years.
She also volunteered for
many years at the Irrigon
Senior Center, both at the
center and serving coffee
to weary travelers from the
senior coffee trailer at the
Boardman rest area. Betty
was also involved from the
beginning of the Irrigon
Watermelon Festival. She
was always busy and never
turned anyone down who
needed her help. She was

Former Walla Walla resident Beth Eleanor Nelson, 79, died
Friday, May 19, 2017, in Kennewick, Wash. She was born
Nov. 23, 1937, in Prosser, Wash. A memorial service will be
held Friday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church
in Walla Walla, followed by private family burial. Munselle-
Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater is in charge of
arrangements.
