OBITUARIES
WEDNESDAY
1:39 a.m. - A caller reported suspicious activity involving
“about 10 cars and a lot of people” behind Desert Rose
Ministries, 512 E. Main St., Hermiston.
8:49 a.m. - A spray-painting vandal covered a pickup in
graffiiti on the 600 block of Helen Street, Milton-Freewater.
Police also received a report later in the morning of graffiti at the
Little League field at 200 DeHaven St.
8:51 a.m. - A Heppner resident on Third Street reported
people in a blue minivan with a white hood tied down with a rope
drove around the area and seem to be checking out her house
and the town for possible burglaries. She also said given their
appearance she believed they use drugs.
10:16 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received a
request to check on an Irrigon resident who a third party said
threatened to kill others then commit suicide.
10:42 a.m. - Umatilla police took a report of a domestic
disturbance on El Monte Street.
10:58 a.m. - Someone stole trees from the 300 block of
South Elizabeth Street, Milton-Freewater.
12:56 p.m. - A caller at Country Club Manor Apartments, 605
Umatilla Ave., Umatilla, reported receiving threatening phone
calls from an unknown source.
1:45 p.m. - Pilot Rock police spent a few hours telling
people to clean up their properties that violated city laws.
Police contacted owners of sites on Southwest Birch Place and
Northeast Elm Street. Police also tried to contact owners on
Southwest Sixth Place and Northeast Second Street.
5:59 p.m. - Someone left a Bible in the men’s restroom at
the Hermiston Police Department’s Public Safety Center, 330 S.
First St., Hermiston.
8:22 p.m. - A Hermiston man on Southwest 11th Street told
police his neighbor swore at him and his sister.
10:53 p.m. - A prowler pounded on the door of an Athena
home on South Fifth Street, shattering the peephole. Law
enforcement did not find the suspect.
11:03 p.m. - A caller living in an apartment on Southwest 11th
Street, Hermiston, reported a man tried to open the back door.
THURSDAY
1:10 a.m. - Two men suffered injuries in a car crash on
Interstate 84 and Highway 331 near Pendleton.
Oregon State Police reported Joshua Danie Ancell, 24, was
driving a Dodge Caliber eastbound on the Interstate 84. Ancell
told police another vehicle cut him off, so he swerved and started
to lose control. He over-corrected, according to state police, and
the Dodge rolled several times before ending up in the shoulder
of the interstate.
Ancell and front passenger Michael Shane Daniels, 23,
suffered injuries, and an ambulance took them to St. Anthony
Hospital, Pendleton, where doctors treated and released them.

•Oregon State Police cited Russell Lane Evans, 61, of
Hermiston, for driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Deloris Stone passed
away peacefully on Tuesday,
May 23, at the age of 94 and
is now in the presence of the
Lord Jesus whom she loved
and served.
Deloris Marie Orton was
born in Pendleton,
Ore., on September
19, 1922. The first
child of Beecher
and Sopha Orton,
she
had
two
brothers, Ivan and
Don. When World
War II broke out,
she met Burleigh
William Redifer.
They were married
in 1942. Soon Stone
after, Burleigh was
sent to Bedford, England.
They had four children:
Dee Ann, Kathie, Bill and
Bonnie. Burleigh was killed
in a private plane crash in
1963.
She married Frank Stone
in 1965. They had two chil-
dren, Sonja and Marc. Marc
passed away in 1985, due
to an automobile accident.
Frank passed away in 2002.
Deloris
kept
active
teaching Sunday school,
helping with Child Evan-
gelism Fellowship, hosting
Bible studies and Bible
clubs and participating in
short-term ministries, which
included trips to England,
Mexico and the Caribbean.
An annual highlight was
serving on the Godmobile
at the Umatilla County Fair
and the Oregon State Fair. In
her later years she crocheted
baby caps for the newborns
at Good Shepherd Hospital.
Deloris proved herself
to be a servant to all.
She prayed daily for her
family and friends and was
unselfish in her giving to the
Lord. Many around
the world have
been touched by
her example.

by her parents,
Beecher and Sopha

brother
Ivan Orton; first
husband Burleigh
Redifer;
second
husband
Frank
Stone; and son
Marc Stone.
She is survived by her
brother Don Orton of Pend-
leton; children Dee Ann
Valdivia of Kodiak, Alaska,
Kathie (Richard) Wilson of
Pasco, Wash., Bill (Lois)
Redifer of Three Hills,
Alberta, Canada, Bonnie
Redifer of McMinnville and
Sonja Bogart of Hermiston;
six grandchildren: Heath
Wilson, Brett (Jacki) Wilson,
Sharon Redifer, Melissa
Redifer, Allison Bogart and
Matthew (Asha) Bogart; and
three great-grandchildren,
Andrew Wilson, Wyatt
Wilson and Londyn Redifer.
Funeral services will be
at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June
3, 2017, at Burns Mortuary
chapel with Pastor Bill
Griggs officiating. Interment
will follow in Hermiston
Cemetery.

environmental science. He has been
involved in Boy Scouts of America,
Umatilla Water Conservation District
and O.M.S.I. During his years at
Irrigon High School he has had leader-
ship roles in A.S.B., band, drama, and Mashos
community music.
