The first caller said the crime happened on the 100 block of Elzora Street. The second report came at 10:47 a.m. from the 100 block of Lamb Street. Both callers said the victims were relatives. 11:42 a.m. - A caller at Tom’s Country Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, 81143 N. Highway 395, Hermiston, reported finding a gun. 12:29 p.m. - A caller reported finding a possible stolen motor home that was “jacked up” with all wheels missing in a field near the 78100 block of Westland Road, Hermiston. 1:03 p.m. - A woman told the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office her brother recently died and she noticed items missing from his home on the 1000 block of Knapp Street, Irrigon. 1:44 p.m. - Pendleton police responded to Northeast Anvidon Street on a complaint about multiple vehicles and left a notice on one for towing. 3:09 p.m. - Pendleton residents on Southwest 16th Street told police a neighbor pulled a gun on them. 3:42 p.m. - Staff at St. Anthony Hospital, Pendleton, reported a male cussed at and threw things at them. 6:16 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office took a report from a Heppner father who said his daughter’s ex-boy- friend stole from her and is harassing her and spreading rumors she is pregnant. The father wanted to know what his options are for helping his daughter. 6:20 p.m. - A caller at the Pendleton Dollar Tree, Melanie Square, 1700 S.W. Court Ave., told police a drunk person ran a shopping cart into her car. 8:35 p.m. - Hermiston police took a report about vandalism at Rocky Heights Elementary, 650 W. Standard Ave. 10:13 p.m. - Several people fought on East Main Street, Hermiston. Kenneth A. Burres David Franklin Bradshaw Eugene July 2, 1924-May 1, 2017 Gresham April 14, 1935-May 6, 2017 SATURDAY 3:15 a.m. - Pendleton police responded to a report of an assault on Southeast 10th Street but found no crime happening when they arrived. 7:29 a.m. - A resident at Mountain Glen Apartments, 200 Pioneer Drive, Heppner, reported her “ex” pushed her into her child. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office sent a deputy, who talked to both parties, found no injuries and made sure the two would remain separate. 11:57 a.m. - Umatilla police responded to the intersection of Seventh and F streets for three people fighting and armed with a knife, stick, and a hammer. 4:32 p.m. - An Irrigon resident on West Seventh Road reported the theft of tools, laundry soap and other items from her home. 4:46 p.m. - A Lexington man told the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office a female “called and screamed at him and called him every name in the book” claiming he stole her phone. The man added he has had the phone number for years. 5:02 p.m. - Three females fought in the front yard of a home on the 1600 block of Southwest Emigrant Avenue, Pendleton. SUNDAY 1:34 p.m. - A man in his 50s refused to leave the Riverside Sports Bar and Lounge, 1501 Sixth St., Umatilla, and tried to fight the manager outside. 2:39 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a robbery at Jalisco Market, 85720 Highway 11, Milton-Freewater. 8:18 a.m. - And Milton-Freewater police received a third report of a vehicle break-in and theft of items, this time from a man on the 100 block of North Columbia Street. 12:45 p.m. - A Hermiston caller at Southwest Fourth Street and McKenzie Avenue reported a man kicked his dog. The suspect was gone before the man arrived. 10:32 p.m. - A Boardman woman on Wilson Lane reported the man who yells at her 12-year-old daughter just threw rocks at their horses. She said the man has a long history of harassing her and her family and may have some mental health problems. ARRESTS, CITATIONS Friday •Umatilla tribal police arrested Cheryl Lynn Bailey, 50, no address provided, for reckless driving, driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol), reckless endangering, second-degree disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. •Hermiston police arrested Kelsea Kathryn Marie Rodriguez, 27, of Hermiston, for delivery and possession of methamphetamine, endangering the welfare of a minor, contempt of court, and possession of a federally scheduled drug. •Oregon State Police cited a 16-year-old Pendleton girl for DUII (controlled substance) and released her to her parents. •Employees at Cadillac Jack’s Saloon & Grill, 1703 S.W. Emigrant Ave., Pendleton, at 10:14 p.m. reported catching a minor in the bar. Pendleton police responded and cited the juvenile. •Oregon State Police arrested Amanda Kay Richardson, 36, of Pendleton, for DUII (alcohol) and booked her into the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, where she provided a breath sample with a blood-alcohol level of .11 percent, above the legal limit of .08 percent. Saturday •Umatilla tribal police arrested Crystal Lynn Sullenger, 40, of Pendleton, for fourth-degree assault, second-degree trespass, menacing, third-degree mischief (vandalism), and harassment. •Oregon State Police arrested David Jeffery Smith, 54, of Walla Walla, for DUII. Sunday •Milton-Freewater police arrested Jesse Torres, 37, of 170 Tara St., Milton-Freewater, for DUII. •Oregon State Police arrested Steven Dick Arbogast, 46, of Pendleton, for DUII (alcohol). His blood-alcohol level at the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, was .21 percent, more than twice the .08 percent legal limit. See the next entry for more information on the dangers of high blood-alcohol levels. •Oregon State Police at 4:33 p.m. responded to a report that a driver went off the road and crashed near Bensel Road and Highway 395, Hermiston. The trooper talked to the driver, James Lee Droody, 56, of Hermiston, and found he was intoxicated. Droody refused to do parts of a sobriety test and failed the rest. The trooper took him to the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, for DUII. At the jail, Droody took a breath test that revealed his blood-alcohol level was .28 percent, more than three times the legal limit of .08 percent. According to medical information, blackouts from alcohol can occur around .2 percent, and someone with a blood-alcohol level of .25 percent is on the verge of alcohol poisoning. People with that much alcohol in their system suffer severe loss of mental and physical functions and face an increased risk of choking to death on their vomit. •Hermiston police arrested Shawn William Schnell, 33, no address provided, for possession of methamphetamine and second-degree trespass. •Pendleton police arrested Monica Angel-Quintana Grant, 39, of Pendleton, for first-degree trespass, reckless burning and resisting arrest. A grave- side service with military honors will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Condon Cemetery. He was born July 2, 1924, at Condon, the son of Augustus and Lola Pullen Burres. Kenny attended several rural schools in Gilliam County. Kenny joined the United States Navy Burres in 1942. While serving he survived the sinking of the last ship attacked by the Japanese. Upon his return from the military he married Leona Faye Cook and settled in Van Port, Oregon. In 1948 Van Port flooded and the couple moved to the Burres ranch near Condon. Survivors include sons Wayne Burres and Kirk Burres; daughters Joyce Richardson and Garnet Cari- gnani and her husband Jerry; six grandchildren and seven great-grand- children. He was preceded in death by his wife Leona; his parents; brothers Lewis, Chet, Jack and Jay; two sisters, Louise Maddock and Loretta Gasso; and son Michael Kenneth Burres. Edward Burt Nielsen Odgen, Utah July 21, 1933-May 3, 2017 Edward Burt Nielsen passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. The oldest of six children, Ed was born on July 21, 1933, to Burt Lars Nielsen and Carolyn Anne Godnick in Twin Falls, Idaho. After graduating from Filer High School in Idaho he received his degree in accounting. Ed married Dixie Lee Bailey in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 15, 1952. They lived in the Twin Falls area where he worked as an accountant for Nielsen Pacific Fruit. After moving to Ogden he worked at Thiokol until accepting a job with First Security Bank. They later moved with their five chil- dren to Pendleton, Oregon, where he began his career as a franchise business owner. He loved law enforcement and pursued a second career as a deputy sheriff for the Umatilla Sheriff’s Dept. in Pendleton. He taught his children the importance of hard work and dedication in everything they did through his example. A lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ed served in the Young Men’s Presi- dency and in the Scouting program. He loved educating and sharing his love for hunting, fishing, and gun safety with the youth. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed many trips with his family, teaching them respect for wildlife, and the importance of family time. In retirement he especially enjoyed serving with Dixie Lee in their Ward Temple Sealing Group. Ed had an insatiable love of talking with people and truly never met a stranger. He could be found starting a conversation with someone everywhere he went. He had a unique ability to find humor in all things, and shared that with everyone he met. Ed is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dixie Lee Nielsen; sons Edward (Debbie) Nielsen, Randy (Janice) Nielsen, Tony (Carol) Nielsen, and daughters Kathryn (Dennis) Thyfault and Sherry (Michael) Wardell; brothers Dennis (Marlene) Nielsen, Tim (Christy) Nielsen and Ken Nielsen, and sister Janet (Jim) Herd; 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Burt Nielsen and Anne Nielsen, brother Doug Nielsen and three great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Ogden Regional Hospital as well as the caregivers at Promise Hospital in Salt Lake.
