Spring blooms with regional plant sales

With the weather warming
up, it’s the perfect time to get out
in the garden.
Several FFA chapters and a
garden club are hosting upcom-
ing plant sales. Those set for this
weekend are planned in Irrigon,
Heppner and Pendleton.
•Irrigon FFA will sell plants to
support its chapter Friday from 9
a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Irrigon Jr/Sr
High School, 315 E. Wyoming
St.
•The Heppner FFA plant sale
continues Friday from 11 a.m. to
6 p.m. and Saturday from noon
to 4 p.m. at the Heppner FFA
Greenhouse at Heppner High
School, 710 N.W. Morgan St.
•The Dirt Dabblers Garden
Club will host its annual sale
Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
at Peace Lutheran Church, 210
N.W. Ninth St., Pendleton. The
sale will continue until all plants
are sold.

own gardens, so are proven to
grow under local conditions.

Money raised from the event will be
used to support scholarships for those
pursuing a medical career and medical
equipment for Good Shepherd.

hits from 1967
MILTON-FREEWATER — The
year was 1967 — the Summer
of Love was blossoming in San
Francisco and on the East Coast,
soul music was storming onto the
pop charts.
During Oldies Night in Milton-
Freewater, BJ the DJ will spin tunes
from 50 years ago. This also marks
the anniversary of Bob Jones’ debut
on college radio, so attendees also
get to hear part of his program
on WGVU at the University of
Dubuque from 50 years ago.
The lineup will include Lulu’s
“To Sir With Love,” the biggest hit
by a newcomer to the charts; Bobbie
Gentry’s “Ode to Billie Joe,” and
the first American hit by the Bee
Gees, “New York Mining Disaster
1941.”
The event is Saturday at 7 p.m. at
Wesley United Methodist Church,

5:47 a.m. - Hermiston police received a report of a male and
female screaming at each other at Southgate Village Apartments,

8:15 a.m. - The Umatilla police code enforcement officer sent
nine certified letters to residents notifying them of noxious vegetation
violations.
10:15 a.m. - A Hermiston resident asked to have an officer talk to
his 15-year-old daughter about stealing.
4:29 p.m. - A man on Northeast Riverside Avenue, Pendleton,
called 9-1-1 to report his estranged wife assaulted him.
8:05 p.m. - A Pendleton man reported his girlfriend assaulted and
bit him.
SUNDAY
3:39 a.m. - Residents on North Hunt Street, Athena, complained
about loud music from the neighbor’s home.
8:36 a.m. - Someone crashed through a fence on Stateline Road,
Milton-Freewater, the property owner reported. The cattle now can
get out and pieces of the vehicle were on the road.
9:33 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a
burglary at the Waterhole Tavern, 51593 Highway 332, Milton-Free-
water.
9:55 a.m. - A 9-1-1 caller on East Gladys Avenue, Hermiston, told
police her brother and boyfriend were fighting.
11 a.m. - A Hepper man on Northeast Court Street reported
someone broke into his unattached basement and stole all of his
tools.
11:10 a.m. - Dogs running around Southeast Idaho Avenue, Irri-
gon, prompted a resident to ask the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office
to send a deputy to talk to the owner about licensing and containing
the dogs.
1:06 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to a
home on Tyler Road, Boardman, on a report of a father hitting his
son. Deputies determined the report was unfounded.
1:25 p.m. - The resident of a home on Southwest Desert Oak
Drive, Hermiston, told police a male was in his driveway about 30
minutes earlier looking for a gun. Police did not find the person.
1:57 p.m. - A caller at Knights Inn, 100 First St N.W., Boardman,
said a male hit a female in the face.
2:42 p.m. - A Heppner resident on Linden Way reported someone
went into her greenhouse and destroyed all the plants and more.
7:21 p.m. - Pilot Rock police received a report of a resident on
Southwest Third Street “out in his own yard drinking beer, yelling,
and cursing” at a neighbor’s guest.
9:44 p.m. - Law enforcement received an emergency report of
two males fighting on Northeast McCallister Lane, Hermiston.

Friday
•The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hugo Ivan Hernan-
dez Dominguez, 26, of Irrigon, for felony fourth-degree assault.
•Milton-Freewater police arrested Larry Michael Brumbach, 42,
of 815 Lamb St., Milton-Freewater, for domestic violence charges of
second-degree assault, strangulation, harassment, and coercion.
•Milton-Freewater police arrested Nicolas Maurice Ramirez, 30,
no fixed address, for first-degree theft, unauthorized entry into a
motor vehicle, second-degree mischief and second-degree trespass.
•Oregon State Police cited Dolores Rae Nunnery, 28, of Irrigon,
for reckless driving.
Sgt. Seth Cooney stopped her at about 7 p.m. going south on
Powerline Road near milepost 5, Umatilla, for driving a Chevrolet
Silverado at 85 mph in a 40 mph zone. State police reported she
passed “vehicles in the area of numerous residences, agriculture ac-
cesses, intersections as well as livestock and other domestic animals
in an open range area.”
Cooney also found she had a 3-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl
in the pickup.
•Oregon State Police arrested James Cody Labelle, 30, no
address provided, for driving under the influence of intoxicants
(alcohol).
•Oregon State Police arrested Stasia Marie Farr, 26, of Pendle-
ton, for DUII and cited her for possession of methamphetamine.
Saturday
•Hermiston police arrested Ricky Cletus Ayers, 57, of Hermiston,
for violating parole and possession of hydrocodone.
Sunday
•Pendleton police arrested Kenneth James Doughty, 29, of Pend-
leton, for failure to display a driver’s license, interfering with a peace
officer, and DUII (alcohol).
•Pendleton police arrested Gary Zachary Smith, 27, of Hermiston,
for altering the identification number on a firearm, possession of
methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm.
