Summer camps? In May? Yes,
indeed! Now’s the me to get your
li le urchins registered before the
camp they really want to a end is
full. And there are so many choices!
In Eastern Oregon (and beyond),
you’ll fi nd overnight camps off ering
everything from ziplines to canoe-
ing, and day camps that teach kids
to be clowns, rock stars, athletes,
and scien sts. Thumb through

them help plan the perfect summer.
REGIONAL SLEEPOVER CAMPS
4-H Tri-County Camp, Gilliam,
Morrow and Wheeler coun es.
Sleepover camp June 15-18 for
youth comple ng grades 4 to 6.
Camp is limited to the fi rst 75 stu-
dents to sign up. Camp takes place
at Cutsforth Park, east of Heppner.
Campers will sleep in tents with a
high school counselor and par ci-
pate in natural resource ac vi es,
outdoor ac vi es, theme related
classes, hikes, a nightly campfi re
and a last night dance. Scholarships

4-H Eastern Oregon Tri-County
Summer Camp, Union, Wallowa
and Baker coun es. Sleepover camp
runs Tues.-Fri., July 11-14. Cost: $75
for the fi rst child; $65 per addi onal
child. Age range: entering fi h to
eighth grade. Camp is located at the
Blue Mountain 4-H Center in
Union County. Ac vi es include
natural resource classes, cabin
ac vi es, skits, campfi re and
swimming at the La Grande
public pool. 24-hour 4-H agent
supervision and EMTs on duty.

outside of Cove in Union County.

Conference of Seventh-day Ad-
ven sts. Faith-based sleepover
camps in Willame e Nat. Forest
near Sisters run June 25 through
Aug. 13. Open to boys and girls,
age 7-17. Weeklong sessions can be
tradi onal “REG” (regular) camps
for ages 10-17 or “RAD” camps for
teens, 13-17, focusing on a specifi c
ac vity for a week, from golfi ng to
white water ra ing. REG sessions
are age-specifi c; check which dates
rodeo champions. Cost is $120
with $20 refundable stall fee;
register and pay by June 1 for
$20 discount. Campers select

Buckaroos for Christ. June 25-28,

Sleepover and day camps designed
for children with social learning and
communica ons challenges and
their peers/siblings. Camp is located
in Weston; days vary. Weeklong Ad-
ventures in Communica on camp is
off ered twice (July 2-9 or July 15-22)
and focuses on ar cula on or social
thinking to improve communica on
skills. Ac vi es also include canoe-
ing, fi shing, zip lines, cra s, sports,
swimming, mini golf, and bug-
catching. Programs start at $500 for
day camp and $1,350 for overnight.
