Main St. This is the second recent report of a newspaper rack theft in Athena 12:29 p.m. - A resident on Arabian Drive, Pendleton, asked to speak to someone at the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office about the neighbor shooting. The man does not have a safe area to shoot, the caller said, and shot another neighbor’s cat. 12:53 p.m. - The brother of an Ione resident on D Street reported his sister-in-law came home, found doors and windows open and food gone. 1:18 p.m. - A caller reported a driver blew through a stop sign and caused a crash at Lookout RV Park, 601 Airport Road, nearly across the street from the Pendleton Police Department. The caller said there were no injuries. 4:10 p.m. - Someone during the last few days, a Pendleton caller reported, stole $100-$150 in aluminum cans from his home on Southeast 11th Street. 5:46 p.m. - A Pendleton mother told police the babysitter harassed her and damaged her child’s toys. 7:51 p.m. - Pendleton emergency services responded to Mountain View Apartments, 2410 N.W. Carden Ave., Pendleton, for a person who was incoherent, coming off drugs and foaming at the mouth. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Andrew Travis Williams, 46, of Hermiston, for the domestic violence charge of misdemeanor fourth-degree assault. •Pendleton police arrested Bud Eugene Campbell, 48, of Pendleton, for fourth-degree assault, harassment, second-de- gree disorderly conduct, and first-degree trespass. •Pendleton police arrested Dennis Jon Larsen, 36, of Hermiston, for driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol). Roberts named to honor society WASHINGTON, D.C. — Lauren Kathryn Roberts of Pendleton has accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). Roberts is a Pendleton High School graduate and a freshman at Oregon State University, majoring in education. NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first-year and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing. A lifelong resident of Stan- field, Oregon, Joy lived there until October 2016 when complications from ALS made it neces- sary for her to move to Nampa, Idaho. Joy was Patrick preceded in death by her father Vernon and mother Dorothy Stoddard, and her husband Howard Ough. She is survived by four brothers and three sisters; her husband Richard Patrick; daughters Patricia (Kyle) Moon and Renee (Barry) Rueppel; son Ronald (Tracy) Leeper; nine stepchildren; 35 grandchil- dren and 18 great-grandchil- dren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28 at the LDS church located at 11288 Roosevelt Ave. in Nampa. Greeting of the family will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Relief Society Room. Matthew Brandon Gone Pendleton May 27, 1995-April 22, 2017 Matthew Brandon Gone, Omiyoyosiw Kihiw “Pretty Eagle” died in Pendleton on Saturday, April 22, 2017. He was born on May 27, 1995, in Pendleton, Ore., to Julian “Wus” Gone and Melva-Bibsy Lopez. Burns Mortuary of Pend- leton is in charge of arrangements. He attended elementary and junior high schools Gone in Pendleton and later attended high school at Nixyaawii Community School. One of his favorite teachers in high school decided he needed a new name and called him K’axli, which meant Tule Mat. This became a term of endearment between he and his teacher throughout the rest of his life. He played football and was also active in Knowl- edge Bowls. In 2012 he presented at American Indian Science Engineering Society (AISES) in Anchorage, Alaska. Also in 2012 in took second place in the Language Knowledge Bowl. In 2013 he was the Language Knowledge Bowl champion, winning by speaking fluid Umatilla. He graduated from Nixyaawii in 2013. He worked at Wildhorse Hotel. He loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed golf, fishing, walking, and playing video games. He loved and respected his heritage. He loved singing and playing the big drum for ceremonies and pow wows. He is survived by his mother, Melva-Bipsy Lopez; father Julian “Wus” Gone; grandmother Charlene (Chaz) Bennett; grandfather Melvin Henry; brothers Julian David Gone III “JD” and Theodore Nyles Gone; sisters Charlene Lynn Butler and Harley Gone; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from all over. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Martina “Chin” Gone, and grandfa- ther Julian Gone.
