Jacob, 2, and Alexandar, 8, pose with the Easter Bunny
at The United Methodist Church’s Easter celebration
Saturday.
The sun was shining and
the weather clear, making
a great backdrop for lots
of Easter festivities on
Saturday. Some churches
had their traditional break-
fast, egg hunts and activities,
while others tried new things
this year.
The Hermiston Church
of the Nazarene was among
those that tried something
new, starting an Easter egg
hunt for special needs chil-
dren to go along with their
usual events.
“We just saw there was a
need,” said Melody Kinswa,
a connections pastor at
the church. “I think we’ll
continue in our planning for
other events like this.”
The event was well-at-
tended, with children of all
ages participating.
“I really like the fact they
did the regular hunt first, and

athletic and upon graduating
from Ukiah High School he
joined the Navy and served
his country.
Always
the
life of the party,
he never met a
stranger and sought
to make everyone
feel comfortable.
A loving father and
grandfather to the
end, we are left with
a great appreciation
of Westerns, science
fiction, shows like
“The Prisoner” and
more, much more,
all of which have
duly been passed
on to his grand-
children. Dad left
behind a great love
for good company,
great conversation, and very
positive personality. He was
always researching great
recipes and had the kitchen
of a professional chef.
Possibly what marked
his life the most was his
continual improvement as
a person and as a Christian.
Charles
never
stopped
getting better and better and
leaves behind a loving family
and array of friends.
Private services to be held
at a later date. A donation to
your local food bank in his
honor is greatly appreciated.

then had something for the
special needs,” said Jenee
Bush, whose son Zachary
Fisher participated in the
hunt. “We definitely wanted
to come out and support it.”
The Victory Baptist
Church had an event at
McKenzie Park on West
Orchard Avenue, which
included a barbecue, picnic
and an Easter egg hunt.
This was the first year
holding such a large event,
said pastor Dax Bryant.
At the United Methodist
Church on East Gladys
Avenue, there was a lot
going on, from face painting,
to an egg hunt, to the serving
of bunny-shaped pancakes.
Virginia Miller, who has
been coming to the church
since 1974, said the event
has become a tradition for
their church.
