Neighborhood Happenings Frida Kahlo drops by the art center PENDLETON — This month, Portland’s renowned Teatro Milagro will present a live performance of “Mijita Fridita,” a lively bi-lingual show based on the childhood of artist Frida Kahlo. The free show wil be held at the Pendleton Center for the Arts at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. If you’d like to attend, contact the PCA at 541-278-9201 to reserve seats. This family event is part of the Pendleton Public Library’s Dia De Los Ninos celebration, focusing on the importance of children’s literacy across all ethnic backgrounds. PENDLETON — A free talk on “Owls: Habitat, Habits, and Prey” will be held Thursday, April 13, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Pendleton Rec Center’s Foundation Room. What makes owls such perfect hunters? Where do they live and what can we do to protect them? Pend- leton Parks & Rec hosts experts from Blue Mountain Wildlife to answer these questions and screen some informative videos. Kids will get some hands-on experience inspecting owl pellets and identify- ing the tiny bones they contain. Parents are also welcome. Register by April 7; call 541-276-8100. HERMISTON — Hermiston Public Library has begun a program sup- porting early literacy development. Baby & Me Learn & Play is offered each Wednesday at 10 a.m. It’s designed to engage newborns and toddlers up to age four and get them excited about music, while improving fine motor skills.
