will provide families a fun
way to learn more about
Oregon pioneer life during
special activities offered
during spring break at the
National Historic Oregon
Trail Interpretive Center at
Baker City.
Each day, a 90-minute
workshop begins at 10 a.m.
They are suitable for ages
6 and up. Pre-registration is
suggested for the sessions,
which are $5 each and
includes all supplies. The
daily themes are:
•Monday, March 27:
Pioneer for a Day. Dress
up in pioneer clothing and
work with others in an
interactive overland simula-
tion. Explore the Trail and
tour the center with Ranger
Rachael. After kneading
hardtack, have a taste of
Dutch oven grub.

Ho! Experience the Oregon
Trail,” also are available
daily. On Friday, March
31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,
pioneer themed activities are
planned for all visitors at no
additional charge.
The National Historic
Oregon Trail Interpretive
Center is located on
Highway 86, five miles east
of Baker City. To get there,
take Exit 302 from Interstate
84.
The center is currently
open daily from 9 a.m. to
4 p.m. Admission is $5 for
adults, $3.50 for seniors
and free for youths 15 and
under. Federal passes also
are accepted.
