he 2A/1A Special District 6 proved to be the best
district of the classification in 2016, as Pilot Rock
and Union — the top two teams in the district —
also met in the state championship game. But with the
move to 3A for Irrigon and Burns, SD6 is a little lighter
this season and Pilot Rock and Union both appear to
be the top dawgs once again. Pilot Rock returns seven
starters from its state champion team, and returns state
Player of the Year Bekah Roe.
