FRIDAY
8:51 a.m. - Pilot Rock police investigated a break-in and
theft at the shed at Pilot Rock Cemetery on East Birch Creek
Road. The suspect(s) stole a $540 weed wacker, a $25 gas
can with gas and broke the master lock on the shed. Due to
the location outside the city limits, the Umatilla County Sheriff’s
Office took over the case.
1:23 p.m. - A Milton-Freewater resident told police someone
hit her vehicle, scratched it and tried to break into it at Central
Middle School, 306 S.W. Second Ave., Milton-Freewater.
1:39 p.m. - An intoxicated man outside the Rainbow Cafe,
209 S. Main St., Pendleton, urinated on a tree on the sidewalk.
4:10 p.m. - A Hermiston man on West Cedar Drive asked
to speak to an officer about someone stealing his vehicle floor
mats and a concrete rake from his residence.
4:49 p.m. - A woman gave the Hermiston Police Department
mail someone left in her mailbox that was addressed to the
White House.
SATURDAY
1:50 a.m. - Hermiston police responded to the Midway Bar
& Grill, 1750 N. First St., on a report that a male in a black SUV
brandished a weapon.
1:46 p.m. - A caller reported a gang fight on Cherry Street,
Hermiston. A dispatcher asked him how many people were
involved, and he replied someone pulled a gun and discon-
nected. Police did not find the fight.
SUNDAY
7:52 a.m. - A caller with Union Pacific Railroad reported
people at East Coe Aveune and Main Street, Stanfield,
crawling under a train.
ARRESTS, CITATIONS
Friday
•Oregon State Police reported a confrontation between two
truck drivers ended with one man going to jail.
Leonard Steven Switzer, 61, was westbound on Interstate
82 around 1 p.m. when he forced another semi to the side of
the road near milepost 1, according to state police. Switzer got
out of his cab, cussed at the other driver and asked him to get
out.
Co-driver Michael Pool, 29, got out instead, and he and
Switzer “exchanged words,” state police reported. The second
driver, Benjamin Huber, 34, then saw Switzer had a knife in his
hand and yelled a warning to his partner. Both men then got
into their semis.
State police arrested Switzer for reckless driving and
menacing.
•Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Douglas Carter
Robertson, 46, of Umatilla, for felony parole violation and
felony failure to report as a sex offender.
•Oregon State Police arrested Rodolfo Perez Serpas, 52,
of Hermiston, for driving under the influence of intoxicants
(alcohol).
Saturday
•Pendleton police cite Garrett D. Clark, 40, of Pendleton,
for DUII.
•Oregon State Police arrested William Clark Grant, 49, of
Milton-Freewater, for DUII (alcohol).
•Milton-Freewater police arrested Rodrigo Rodriguez
Campos, 21, no fixed address, on two local warrants and for
possession of methamphetamine.
•Umatilla tribal police arrested Audra Marcell Reuben, 31,
of Pendleton, for dangerous drugs, criminal activity involving
drugs, and giving false information.
•Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Adrian Alberto
Guerra, 27, of 32394 E. Punkin Center Road, Hermiston, for
unauthorized use of vehicle and failure to pay fines.
•Pendleton police arrested Dustin Lee Picard, 36, of 2918
N.E. Riverside Ave., Pendleton, for felony fourth-degree assault
(domestic violence) and second-degree criminal mischief.
Sunday
•Milton-Freewater police arrested Justin William
McCormack, 27, of Milton-Freewater for fourth-degree assault,
harassment, strangulation and interfering with making a report,
all domestic violence charges, and for misdemeanor attempt to
elude and DUII.
•Oregon State Police arrested Cravan Adrian Sturges, 50,
for DUII and on a warrant,
•Oregon State Police arrested Wendell Eugene Williams
Jr., 21, of 61012 S.E 145th Court, Vancouver, Washington, for
fourth-degree assault and strangulation, both stemming from
domestic violence.
•Umatilla police at 4:41 p.m. responded to G & G Rentals.
2644 Blue Jay St., on a report of a man kicking a woman in
a front yard. Officers arrested Cory Edward Reiner, 44, of
Umatilla, for felony fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
•Pendleton police at 6:32 p.m. received a report of a male
arguing with his mother and punching windows at St. Anthony
Hospital, Pendleton. Officers arrested Logan C. Wilson, 18, of
Pendleton, for disturbance, a misdemeanor.

Washington. He is survived
by his husband, Daryl Tran,
mother Joyce Broun, nephew

Hummell.
After college, he
moved to Fajardo,
Puerto Rico, to live
with his dad for five
years and worked
on drones. Then
he was hired by
Aramco and worked
as a technician
for several years. Broun
Robert got to travel
to Saudi Arabia and
Kuwait. Finally, he landed
a job with GTE as a project
manager. Robert and his team
of engineers were in charge
of setting up communication
satellites in other countries.
This job provided Robert the
opportunity to work and live
in Burkino Faso, West Africa,

Robert was a social and
friendly person who was
loved by all those whom he
came in contact with. He
will be missed dearly by his
family and friends. Robert’s
spirit will live in all of us.

Jean gradu-
ated as valedic-
torian in 1944
from
Irrigon
High School.
After one year
at
Eastern
Oregon College
in La Grande,
Oregon, she moved
to Los Angeles
where Great-Aunt
Elva operated a
beauty shop. Jean
became a fashion
model and was
selected Miss Holly-
wood at age 21,
receiving a month’s
vacation in Hawaii.
After moving Pinney
to New York City
where her father’s sister
Blanche (stage name: Ruth
Chandler) performed in stage
plays, Jean became a Powers
Model and had photos
placed in many magazines.
She became a cover girl on
several magazines, including
Minicum
Photography,
Pageant, and Redbook.
Jean moved back to
Los Angeles where she
met her husband, Robert
Pinney, whom she married
in 1951. After moving to
San Francisco, they became
architectural contractors in
that area. Among many other
accomplishments, Jean was
an expert seamstress.
After her husband’s death
in 1996, Jean moved to
Hermiston to be closer to her
brother Bob and his family.
Preceding Jean in death
were her parents, stepfather,
several stepsis-
ters, husband,
nephew Gary
Brown, and her
brother Robert
“Bob” Brown.
Jean
is
survived by her
niece Vickie and
nephew Daryl,
stepsister Patty,
sister-in-law
Ellen, numerous
great-nephews,
a great niece,
and several cousins.
The
family
thanks the Good
Shepherd
staff,
Guardian
Angel
caregivers,
and
Vange John Hospice
for
their
care.
Special
thanks
are also extended
to Jean’s helpful
neighbors
and
Burns
Mortuary
staff.
Family and friends will
remember Jean’s many talents
