8:30 a.m. - Morrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to
a report of a young male prowling around vehicles at Cedar
Road and Idaho Lane, Irrigon. A deputy checked it out and
recognized the suspect, who was looking at vehicles while
walking to school.
10:14 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a
report of a burglary on West Van Buren Street, Athena.
10:20 a.m. - A Pendleton-area resident reported receiving
two calls from a male claiming to be with the “Pendleton
Sheriff’s Office” in an attempt to get her personal information.
Of course the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office is in Pendleton,
but there is no Pendleton Sheriff’s Office.
11:12 a.m. - A Hermiston woman asked to talk to police
about her ex-husband harassing her.
3:30 p.m. - A Pendleton mother told police her elementary
school-aged child was the victim of harassment on the school
bus.
6:49 p.m. - Irrigon residents on the 800 block of Southeast
Utah Avenue parked and blocked in a neighbor’s car. He
reported he told them to move, and they did, about 2 inches,
just enough for him to get out. He asked for a sheriff’s deputy
to talk to them.
6:54 p.m. - Two males stole two shopping carts full of beer
from the Pendleton Safeway, loaded it into a vehicle and took
off.
9:02 p.m. - Hermiston police received a report of a juvenile
male sending suicidal messages to a female.
9:55 p.m. - An anonymous caller reported lights flashing
and a possible alarm at Washington Elementary School, 1205
S.E. Byers Ave., Pendleton.
10:21 p.m. - Hermiston police received a report of a
possible burglary at Hermiston High School, 600 S. First St.,
Hermiston.
11:23 p.m. - An Athena resident reported telephonic
harassment.
11:26 p.m.. - And a Umatilla resident on Driftwood Court,
Umatilla, reported someone harassing him.
ARRESTS, CITATIONS
•Umatilla tribal police arrested Wallace Alan Wildbill, 31, of
Pendleton, for disorderly conduct and criminal activity in drugs.
•Pendleton police arrested James Ona Bass, 37, of
Pendleton, for interfering with a peace officer, resisting arrest,
second-degree disorderly conduct and possession of cocaine.
•Police in Hermiston caught an Irrigon man hiding in a trash
container in an escape attempt.
An Oregon State Police trooper at about 3:30 p.m. stopped
a black Dodge Neon for a registration infraction on Highway
395, Hermiston, between West Orchard and East Highland
avenues. The driver took off on foot.
Hermiston police found the suspect, Joseph Lee Swope,
36, of Irrigon, hiding in a nearby dumpster, according to state
police. And the trooper cited and/or arrested Swope for the
following: attempt to elude/flee; driving while suspended;
driving uninsured; operation of an unregistered vehicle; two
local warrants; and felony failure to register as a sex offender.
•Hermiston police arrested Tyler Wayne Jones, 30,
of Irrigon, for felon in possession weapon, possession of
methamphetamine, and on warrants for failure to appear and
violating parole.
•Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Marvin R.J.
Thompson, 21, of Pendleton, for driving under the influence
of intoxicants and reckless driving following at crash at about
6:15 p.m. on Tutuilla Road, Pendleton, near McKay Road.

for state basketball
tourney
PENDLETON —
There’s still time to provide
visiting basketball teams
with information, coupons
and brochures about your
business.
Coaches of teams in
the 2A state championship
basketball tournament will
receive a welcome packet.
Area businesses are invited
to provide things to be put
in them. Items must be
submitted to the Pendleton
Chamber of Commerce
Friday by 5 p.m.
In addition, area
businesses are encouraged
to welcome players and
fans on reader boards
during the tournament,
which is March 2-4 at the
Pendleton Convention
Center. Other ways to help
out include food or financial
donations for the hospitality
room and becoming
window sponsors.

Supervised physical
activity like dodgeball and
basketball, table games

stacking contests are just a
few of the activities to keep
children ages 6-13 busy.
Registration is $5 per child
and includes a snack.

least 15 children minimum
