BAKER CITY — The
Mac-Hi Pioneers put together a
solid performance but the Baker
Bulldogs and Wyatt Akers’
game-high 34 points were too
much to overcome, sending
the Pioneers back home with a
53-45 defeat on Thursday.
“We were right there with
them for most of the game,
within five points,” Mac-Hi
coach Jordon Poyner said, “we
just couldn’t get over the hump.
And it’s tough to beat a team
when they have a kid that’s
having the night of his life.”
Akers scored his 34
points on an incredible 13-14
shooting from the field and
nailed six 3-pointers. Luis
Garcia led Mac-Hi (6-11,
0-4 GOL) with 20 points
and Alexis Pio followed with
nine points.
