Fear of high water is already beginning
to be entertained by some local people
because of the abnormally heavy snow in the
mountains. While the snowfall in and about
Pendleton has been comparatively light this
winter, there have been unusually heavy snow
storms in the mountains to the east and south.
At Kamela the snow is reported to be six feet
deep and at some points in the mountains

A proposed “park and shop mall” for
downtown Pendleton got an endorsement
for a two-week trial period Tuesday. Mrs.
Herman Lorenzen, one of the property
owners who would be affected by the mall,
said “we feel spending this now would protect
our investment.” Parking meters in the two

Winter or not, the 1991-92 bowling season
is heating up for area bowlers. John Herbi-
son’s 300 during the Wednesday Night Mixed
League last week brought the total to three
perfect games bowled by men at Pendleton
Lanes during the current league season. Brian
Brandon, 20, rolled a 300 game in December
and Rich Hartle, 36, hit 12 straight strikes in
November. Both came during the Wednesday
Night Men’s Major League. Herbison, 51,
said his 300 was his first in five years of
bowling. He carries a 192 average.
