MJ KUHAR
New to BMCC is Vice President of Instruction, Mary Jeanne (MJ) Kuhar. MJ worked most
recently as the Executive Dean for the School of Professional and Technical Careers at Lane
Community College in Eugene, a position which she has held since
2014. She also has experience as a full-time faculty member and
department chair, with strong experience in the health professions
programs. She earned her bachelor’s degree from West Virginia
Wesleyan College (Buckhannon, WV) and a medical degree from the
University of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine and worked in a private
practice in Bend, Oregon for ten years as a physician in Obstetrics and
Gynecology in. MJ began her role at BMCC on November 28.
MJ and her husband John have been married for 27 years and have
two sons. Michael is an applications engineer in Beaverton and is married to Kaycee who is
a second grade teacher. Joseph lives in Vancouver, Washington and is a data base manager
for a large property management company.
She enjoys reading and likes acting. She participated in community theatre when she was
living in Florence, Oregon and was active in a number of local productions as a cast member
and also part of the production staff.

JEREMY GILLETTE
Jeremy Gillette is a Hermiston High School graduate with an Associate of Applied Science
(AAS) degree in Fire Science and an AAS in Emergency Medical Services from Chemeketa
Community College. His bachelor of science in Fire Service Administration is from Eastern
Oregon University.
Jeremy is a fi refi ghter paramedic in Hermiston. He began his career as
a professional fi refi ghter in 1997 and worked for Hermiston Fire and
Emergency Services until 2000. He then worked for Mid-Columbia Fire
& Rescue until June 2014, when he returned home to Hermiston. In
his spare time, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his wife and three
kids, hunting, fi shing, and playing golf.
BMCC is so happy to have Jeremy on the team. Providing quality
Fire Science education is so important to our eastern Oregon communities. And thanks
to Jeremy and the local fi re agencies, future fi re professionals will be able to achieve their
dreams right here at BMCC!
CRYSTAL PATTON DOHERTY
Crystal Patton Doherty heads up the Dental Assisting Department and has been connecting
students to dental offi ces and lifelong careers in the dental industry for 27 years! Crystal’s
education includes Certifi ed Dental Assistant (CDA), Expanded
Function Dental Assistant (EFDA), Elementary Education and a
General Studies degree from Eastern Oregon State University.
Prior to her work at BMCC she worked as a Dental Assistant in
Pendleton, and taught fi fth grade and Resource Room in the Athena
Weston School District.

Crystal is the wife of Charlie, a rancher, and mother of two, Jenna
and Quinn. She loves trying to keep up with their activities. Crystal’s
