Photo taken on January 6, 2017 on the Umatilla River on the Umatilla Indian Reservation. The
location is a spot locally known as “The Falls” where there is about a four foot elevation drop in the
basalt layers. When the temperature drops to below zero degrees F. for about a week, the ice
formations can be spectacular.
